Samsung increases the lifespan of its Galaxy smartphones & watches with 4 years of OS updates

Samsung has already streamed its first Unpacked Event for 2022 wherein the company has launched the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S22 Series and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Series.

Alongside the new devices, Samsung has taken a massive step in terms of OS updates on the current devices. The company has announced that it will provide 4 years of Android OS updates to select devices.

This means that the newly announced Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 models will receive 4 new generations of Android OS and security patches for 5 years. Starting with Android 12, they will go up to Android 16 and receive their final patch in 2027.

The owners of the 2021 Samsung flagship can be happy too as the same schedule of updates applies to their devices too. This means that they will get one more OS update and an extra year of patches than originally planned. The devices include Z3 foldable, as well as the S21 series flagships including S21 FE. The Galaxy S20 series and older foldable remain on the 4-year schedule. A list of devices that will get these updates are-
