Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, have been in the news lately for their anticipated upgrades. While it appears that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will undergo a design revamp, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to receive minor design upgrades. However, tipster Anthony (@TheGalox) has now leaked some hardware specifications and suggested the expected hardware improvements for the Galaxy Z Fold 5. In addition, the tipster has revealed the expected price tag.

According to Anthony, the displays on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will remain the same size as its predecessor, with a 6.2-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner folding panel. However, the displays are said to have a 120Hz screen refresh rate and be brighter than the displays on the previous model. The processor is expected to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy SoC, which is similar to the one found in the outgoing Galaxy S23 models. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be available in 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage options.

The cameras on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will reportedly be a 50-megapixel primary, 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 10-megapixel telephoto, with the ability to record 8K video at 30fps like on the Galaxy S23 models. The smartphone is also expected to have an improved vibration motor and a new hinge with a lesser crease and a smaller visible gap when closed. The design will be thinner and lighter, with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection for the outer display and a more durable inner display. Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will feature an improved under-display camera.

According to the tipster, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will have a price tag of $1,799, or approximately Rs. 1,47,000. While Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series has been a popular choice among consumers, competitors such as Oppo and Vivo are expected to launch their own horizontal folding phones. The much-rumored Google Pixel Fold is also expected to hit more markets than the Galaxy Z Fold 5, with a $1,799 starting price tag and a more compact form factor.

The upgrades to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 show that Samsung is continuing to invest in its foldable smartphone lineup. The improved specifications and design improvements are sure to impress consumers who are looking for a premium smartphone experience. However, the competition is also stepping up, and Samsung will need to continue to innovate to maintain its leadership in the foldable smartphone market.
