As the days go by, reports stating that Samsung will equip the upcoming Galaxy S23 series with Qualcomm chipsets are getting stronger. As of now, Qualcomm’s CEO Cristiano Amon has hinted that they will be fortifying on Qualcomm chipsets on the S23 series which further gives credence to what the earlier speculations have been hinting towards.

Samsung Galaxy S23 series to use Qualcomm chipsets entirely

Amon mentioned that they are already doing 75% of the chips on the Galaxy S22 series. He further hinted that if they are doing 75% now, think about what they could do in Galaxy S23 and beyond. Although Amon didn’t specifically mention that they will be doing 100% of the Galaxy S23 devices, there’s still a lot of room between 75-100% that it could lay out since the Exynos SoC is almost out of the picture.

Qualcomm Snapdragon

Call it failure to perform against the almighty Snapdragon SoCs, Exynos has always been tagged as a processor that heats up often and doesn’t have the same degree of output as the Snapdragon ones. Exynos 2200 SoC mounted on the S22 series failed to impress the masses too against the Snapdragon 898 SoC that was used by its other variant.

Furthermore, the upcoming Exynos 2230 5G and 2300 SoC could have let down the South Korean giant as well, which ks why the makers are getting Qualcomm onboard to extend its support, probably much higher than 75%.

Samsung and Qualcomm have extended their patent licencing till 2030 where both will enjoy tech from 3G, 4G, 5G, and even 6G.

When it comes to the in-house Exynos chipsets, it is likely that Samsung will start building a new chipset from scratch instead of relying on incremental improvements. With that being said, the process will take a long time enough to miss the Galaxy S23 series launch in January or February next year. To point out, Samsung Galaxy S23 series is likely to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC given that it is an flagship device. However, it remains to be seen how much units Qualcomm is able to capture of the upcoming series.
