Samsung Galaxy S21 series is launching on January 14 through a virtual Galaxy Unpacked event. In this event, we are expecting three new phones namely Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. The last one being the flamboyant flagship of the lot will feature upstate specs and perks. This includes a long-lasting rumor about the added support for S Pen on this model. While we were wondering how this would pan out, a fresh leak offers some insight.

According to the German publication WinFuture, the S Pen will be sold and stored separately in a proprietary case. Here are more details:

Galaxy S21 Ultra S Pen Case Features

Neither the S21 Ultra, the phone itself nor its package accommodates an S Pen. Instead, you’ll have to buy it separately (either individually or bundled with the case).

These cases from Samsung has a dedicated area right next to the phone wherein the S Pen will sit snugly. This will also facilitate wireless charging of the S Pen by the phone.

The S Pen is said to support Bluetooth-based remote functionality for features like unlocking the phone, click the camera shutter, and pointing various handy gestures. So, you should be able to enjoy most, if not all the Note’s S Pen conveniences. But, one noticeable difference in the stylus design is the lack of a clicky tip. As far as price is concerned, the S21 Ultra’s S Pen is likely to cost the same as Note20’s.

Anyhoo, we will have more details on the Unpacked event scheduled for January 14. This year’s theme is “Everyday Epic”. Besides the phones, the rumored attractions are a new Tile competitor called SmartTag and a pair of Galaxy Buds Pro TWS buds.

And if you pre-order the regular S21 and S21 Plus, you will be gifted the SmartTag and Galaxy Buds Live. As per reputed leakster Ishan Agarwal, the Galaxy S21 series VIP pre-booking in India will kick off soon and interested buyers can opt-in by paying ₹2,000.
