Samsung teased the Galaxy Ring at the unpacked event back in January, and since then, it has piqued the interest of tech enthusiasts. The Galaxy Ring is all set to debut at Samsung’s upcoming Paris Unpacked event on July 10; it will be the first of its kind in the Samsung ecosystem. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the features, launch date, and expected price of the Galaxy Ring. Let’s get started.
What is the Samsung Galaxy Ring?
The Galaxy Ring is a smart ring that can track your sleep and monitor your health. It should have features like heart rate tracking, tap to pay via NFC, volume controls, SmartThings Find, and more.
According to a patent for the Galaxy Ring, it is “intended to cover the categories of wearable smart devices in the nature of a smart ring for tracking, measuring, monitoring, and uploading health, fitness, and sleep-related information.” It is basically a miniature version of your Galaxy Watch but without a screen.

Samsung Galaxy Ring Launch Date
The Galaxy Ring was showcased at the Galaxy Unpacked event in February 2024. Samsung had already trademarked the name in February 2023. The latest buzz suggests a possible delay to August 2024 due to a lawsuit against Oura. Still, we’re hyped for a launch at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, 2024.
Samsung Galaxy Ring Features
The Galaxy Ring will pack in a ton of features despite being the size of a ring. It will, of course, have all the health tracking features that you would expect on a smart ring, alongside SmartThings Find and other features. Let’s take a look at each of them.
Samsung Galaxy Ring Health Features
The Galaxy Ring will have several health features. It includes an ECG sensor for heart rate monitoring, a SpO2 sensor for blood oxygen levels, and a PPG sensor for detecting irregular heart rhythms. It will also track sleep quality, including heart rate, sleep latency, respiratory rate, and movement at night.
The ring may help detect sleep apnea and provide a Vitality Score based on workouts and sleep quality. Additionally, it could support menstrual health tracking with the Natural Cycles app, and pending FDA approval, it may include advanced features like blood pressure monitoring and aFib detection.
Samsung Galaxy Ring Smart Features
The Galaxy Ring is rumored to feature standard smart functionalities like device integration for media control and notification pings. There’s speculation about NFC support for payments through Samsung Pay.
Samsung Galaxy Ring SmartThings Find
The Galaxy Ring is rumored to have support for SmartThings Find, featuring an LED that blinks when you use the SmartThings app or website to locate it. Without a speaker, this LED will serve as the locator. This integration should make it easier to find the small and easily misplaced (once removed) Galaxy Ring.
Samsung Galaxy Ring Battery
The Samsung Galaxy Ring is expected to come with three battery options—17 mAh, 18.5 mAh, and 22 mAh, based on the different ring sizes. Expect up to nine days of use on a single charge, which is nearly double what the Oura Ring offers with its five-day battery life. There’s no information on the charging speed, but since it’s a pretty small battery, you shouldn’t have to worry about charging speeds anyway.

Samsung Galaxy Ring Charging Case

Per the images of the charging case by Ice Universe, we can confirm that the Galaxy Ring will have a Galaxy Buds-like case with flat sides and a glossy finish. Speaking of which, we can expect support for wireless charging for the case.
Inside, there’s a cylindrical station for you to place the Galaxy Ring around. The charging case will also have a status indicator, which is a good feature. Additionally, we’re expecting the charging case to match the colors of the rings, but that’s just our speculation.
Samsung Galaxy Ring Sizes and Colors
The Galaxy Ring is expected to be available in eight sizes, ranging from 5 to 12. It will also be available in three different colorways: black, gold, and silver.
Samsung Galaxy Ring Expected Price
The Galaxy Ring is expected to cost somewhere between $300 and $350. The price could be slightly higher in India, starting at around INR 30,000. If we look at the competition, most of them, including the Oura Ring, cost around $300. Therefore, be prepared to spend $300 to $350 if you are planning to buy this smart ring.
So, that is all we know about the Galaxy Ring, for now. We will update this article as more details emerge. And, of course, don’t forget to watch the Galaxy Unpacked on June 10, 2024, for more details.
