Samsung is slyly expanding its smartphone lineup with iterative forks of its phones. And it shouldn’t bother anyone as long as the phones get better. The latest entries are Galaxy A50s and Galaxy A30s which are, as the name implies, upgrades of Galaxy A50 (review) and Galaxy A30 (review) that launched earlier this year.

As the title reads, the phones come with improved cameras and design. Let’s see what else has changed.

As the majority of the market swarmed towards one particular camera trend, Samsung phones felt like an outcast. Yes, we are talking about the 48MP sensor, which is now present in the new Galaxy A50s. This is accompanied by the same 8MP ultra-wide and 5MP depth sensors.

The selfie camera joins the 32MP bandwagon.

The Galaxy A50s also gets a minor chipset upgrade -the Exynos 9611 octa-core processor powering the phone has improved graphics compared to the Exynos 9610 that powered the Galaxy A50.

That’s it, rest of the specs remain unchanged. The list includes 4GB/6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, 4000mAh battery with 15W fast charging, and a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Full HD+ Infinity-U display that bears an under-display fingerprint scanner.

The rear camera module on the A30s has elongated to house a triple camera setup. It borrows the 25MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP depth sensor from the Galaxy A50. The front camera still packs a 16MP sensor.

The display is the same 6.4-inch HD+ panel with an Infinity-V notch. This one also gets an in-display fingerprint scanner, which is a welcome change. You also get an additional 128GB storage option.

Galaxy A30s carries over the rest of the A30’s hardware including an Exynos 7904 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and a 4,000 mAh battery with 15W fast charging.

New Designs and Game Booster

Both Galaxy A50s and Galaxy A30s sport a unique geometric pattern with a holographic effect on the back. Thus, the aptly named four new colors – Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush White, Prism Crush Green, and Prism Crush Violet.

They will feature the AI-based Game Booster, which debuted in the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus (review). So, we might get the latest One UI 1.5 software as well.
