Ringing Bells Freedom 251 has caught everyone attention in India and across the world due to its unprecedented pricing which earns it the title of World’s cheapest phone. Costing just Rs. 251, this Ringing Bells smartphone witnessed unanticipated number of people stacking up online in virtual queues to buy Freedom 251.

This ‘unexpected’ (not really) demand for Ringing Bells’ new phone sent their servers crashing even before the sales began. As per company release, the sale portal freedom251.com received as many as 6 lakh hits per second which lead to thing go haywire. Now, company is promising to reopen sale in within 24 hours.

Since the early morning, the website was redirecting users to cart window every time they clicked on proceed to payment option. As per the original announcement, the sale was scheduled to start at 6 AM, on February 18 and end at 8 PM on February 21. Ringing Bell has promised to complete all the deliveries by 30th June 2016.

It still not clear why the company is subsidizing this handset which supposedly costs 2500 INR. Credible reports also claim this is an Adcom phone with Adcom logo hidden behind a whitener. The handset has been mired in controversy from the very start. Even the images posted on official website were vastly different from what the handset actually looks like.

Besides, the way company is handling its official website and the use of CCavenue free portal for payments makes it clear that they aren’t well equipped to handle this kind of demand. At this stage, we would advice you to not buy Freedom 251.

Currently, if someone attempts to book Freedom 251, he/she will be greeted with a message that reads as follows.

“Dear friends, we are very grateful for your enormous response and your kind patronage and would submit that as of now we received approx. 6 lakh hits per second as a result of your kind overwhelming response, servers are over loaded.”

“We humbly submit that we are therefore taking a pause and upgrading the service and will revert within or before 24 hours.”

“Once again our respectful thanks and gratitude for your support and patience. We look forward your return as soon as we are back online well within 24 hours.”
