How to Return or Get Refund for in App purchases on Google Play Store

When you get a paid app, you can always get a refund within the next 48-hour window just by searching for the app on Playstore and taping the ‘refund’ button (in place of where you’d conventionally find the ‘Uninstall’ button. (हिंदी में पढ़ें)

However, what if you aren’t satisfied with an in-app purchase and need to roll it back? Well, in order to get a refund for in-app purchase, you will have to open your web browser. Here is the simple step by step process on how you can return an in-app purchase.

Once again, you can not ask for a refund in the play store app. You will need to open Play store in a browser. Better use a PC. 

Step 1: Open play store in your browser, Sign-in your Google account if you haven’t already. The screenshots below are taken within Chrome web browser.

Step 2: Select ‘Account’ open from the sidebar.

Step 3: Browse down to order history.

Step 4: Now click on the triple dot menu next to the app purchase order.

Step 5: Select ‘Report a problem’ option.

Step 6: Now select the reason for why you are returning the in-app purchase and hit submit.

After you have successfully executed the above steps, you will get an email from Google approving or denying your refund request.

So, the next time you have made an impulsive or accidental purchase within an app, you can follow the above-mentioned app to get a quick refund. If you have made the purchase within last 48 hours, Google will approve your refund instantly. Once you are past your return window, you can contact the app developer and request for a refund.
