Reliance Jio Goes Official; Details Revolutionary Data and Voice Plans

After much speculations and wait Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has finally announced launch dates of his new telecom venture, Reliance Jio. As a welcome offer, all Jio services and apps will be available absolutely free from September 5 to 31 December 2016. Reliance Jio is the only telecom operator in the country which has pan-India 4G LTE network.

At the Reliance Industry AGM meeting, Mukesh Ambani also announced tariff plans which offer free unlimited voice calls local, STD and roaming. Jio is aiming to earn revenue from its high-speed data which is priced at as low as 5 paise per MB/  Rs. 50 per GB. For Postpaid customers it offers ten plans starting at Rs. 149. All plans come with unlimited night time LTE data.

Mukesh Ambani announced that Jio users will be able to see their bill in real time and won’t have to wait till the end of the month. Students can avail 25 percent more data with a valid Student ID.  The company is targeting to cater to 90 percent of India’s population by March 2017.  It also has plans to roll out Fiber optics services in selected cities with speeds up to 1Gbps.

Jio users will get to enjoy the complete bundle of Jio apps without spending a single penny. Full Jio bouquet has 10 apps including JioCinema app, JioTV app, Jio Beat Music, Jio Mag and few more. JioCinema app has 6000 movies, 60000 music videos in 10 languages whereas JioTV app lets you watch 300 plus live TV channels and 40 HD channels. Jio has the necessary foundation to be ready for virtual reality and augmented reality.

Mukesh Ambani has set a goal of 100 million customers in the least time to create a world record.”I’ve always set impossible goals for Jio team. They have exceeded my expectations always,” he said. Jio has enrolled over 5lakh partners across the country.

He also announced that there would be no blackout days for Jio customers. They won’t have to pay extra for sending messages on occasions like Diwali. So far, almost all telecom operators blackout major festivals to earn extra revenue on the day. He said,”No more blackout days. When you need to send a message on Diwali (or other holidays), operators charge double rates. Not on Jio.”
