Redmi K30, RedmiBook 13 go official: Price, Specs and Features

Putting an end to the ubiquitous rumors and leaks, Redmi K30 has finally debuted in China. And just like any other Redmi launch event, the brand also took the stage to unveil a bunch of other products. This includes the RedmiBook 13, XiaoAI Speaker Play and Xiaomi Mijia laser projector.

But the star of the show is Redmi K30 and we already knew a fair deal about it. Redmi K30 is the first phone to ship with the latest Snapdragon 765 chipset. It also comes with a dual punch-hole display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Sony IMX686 camera, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, Dual-mode 5G, and more. Like the hints, there is a 4G model in tow. So, let’s cut the fat and have a quick run through the highlights, followed by price and availability details.

Redmi K30 Specifics

Redmi K30 launched in China

First and foremost, there are a few differences between the 5G and 4G models.

The design ensemble includes a dual punch-hole display on the front and a frosted AG glass at the back. Its Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back. The front display is 6.67-inch in size with full HD+ (1080×2400 pixels) resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

Within its pill-shaped hole, a 20MP+2MP duo resides. Moving to the rear panel, you have a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor, an 8MP 120-degree FoV ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP (2MP on K30 4G) 2cm macro lens, and a 2MP depth-sensing unit.

Coming to the internals, you get Snapdragon 765 chipset on the 5G version while the 4G version runs on Snapdragon 730G. Besides this, you also get up to 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, and 4500mAh battery. It supports a 30W (27W with the 4G model) fast charger, which is bundled inside the box. The software is MIUI 11 based on Android 10.

As for connectivity, the 5G model supports both SA and NSA networks. Rest, it bears a 12-antenna setup and dual-frequency GPS. The feature sheet also lists a hybrid dual SIM tray, a 3.5mm audio jack, multi-function NFC and Hi-Res Audio.

The 5G variant is priced as follow –

  • 6GB+64GB: 1999 Yuan (roughly around Rs. 20,146)
  • 6GB+128GB: 2299 Yuan (about Rs. 23,175)
  • 8GB+128GB: 2599 Yuan (approx. Rs. 26,192)
  • 8GB+256GB: 2899 Yuan (about Rs. 29,215)

Redmi K30 4G model carries the following price tags –

  • 6GB+64GB: 1599 Yuan (roughly around Rs. 16,113)
  • 6GB+128GB: 1699 Yuan (about Rs. 17,119)
  • 8GB+128GB: 1899 Yuan (approx. Rs. 19,135)
  • 8GB+256GB: 2199 Yuan (about Rs. 27,202)

RedmiBook 13 embellishes a full-screen engulfed in ultra-thin bezels. This is a 13.3-inch FHD display with 178-degree FoV and 89% screen to body ratio. The design cues are borrowed from the RedmiBook 14 series. It’s a full-metal chassis that weighs around 1.23kg.

Inside, you get the 10th gen Intel Core processor backed by NVIDIA GeForce MX250. It boasts 11-hour long endurance and 50% juice in 35 minutes using the 1C fast charger. Besides these, Redmi has stowed in a wing fan and a built-in 6mm diameter double heat pipe. Together, this is called the “hurricane cooling system” which touts to increases the maximum heat transfer by 70 percent.

On the software front, you get Microsoft Windows 10 Home edition. Redmi has bundled the Office Student edition. It also supports Xiaomi’s mutual transmission feature, which lets network-free transfer of files between PC and other devices.

RedmiBook 13 pricing and availability

RedmiBook 13 is available in three models with the following asking prices:

  • Intel Core i5 + 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD + MX250 (Set Display Edition): 4,199 yuan (around Rs. 42,313)
  • Intel Core i5 + 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD + MX250: 4,499 yuan (around Rs. 45,336)
  • Intel Core i7 + 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD + MX250: 5,199 yuan (around Rs. 52,420)

They are currently out on pre-order in China and will hit the stores starting 12th December. Indian availability is not revealed.

Redmi also unveiled XiaoAI Speaker Play at 79 yuan (about Rs. 796), Xiaomi Mijia laser projector at 5,999 CNY (approx. Rs. 60,462).

Last but by no means least, the Redmi K30 Pro is expected to arrive in March of 2020 engined by Snapdragon 865 SoC coupled with X55 5G Modem.
