Day in and Day out you get to see one or the other Xiaomi product, most of which are smartphones. And this morning our Twitter bird’s eyes opened to Xiaomi’s first Android Go Smartphone, a.k.a Redmi Go. Since, its from the Chinese giant that brings good phones at an affordable price tag, we expect nothing less out of this new smartphone.
Redmi Go Features
First and foremost, they run on Google’s Android Go (8.1 Oreo Edition) platform, which means they have trimmed down version of Stock Android within them. Google has woven an ecosystem of Go series of apps was launched by Google in the Play store. They are the “lite” version of Google’s popular apps meant to run on low-end devices. Apart from this, the entire operating system is optimized for performance.
The specs have been leaked by a tipster named Ishan Aggarwal via his twitter handle. Here we have the no-frills spec sheet for you.
Redmi Go could sport a 5-inch 16:9 LCD display with a 1,280 x 720 resolution. Besides the 5MP selfie snapper, there are no notch or other superficialities to the front display. The rear houses an 8MP shooter.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 which is the entry-point for mid-tier smartphones powers it. Graphics would be rendered by Qualcomm Adreno 308. Redmi Go is likely to come out with 1GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage. The Xiaomi phone would be fueled by a 3000mAh battery. Considering your storage needs, Xiaomi has included an expandable option up to 128GB using a MicroSD card.
Other details leaked include a Micro-USB 2.0 port and Dual SIM card slots.
Redmi Go Price and Availability
We had mentioned in a recent article that this one is touted to be the company’s most affordable smartphone thus far, being an Android Go phone. As per the leak, you could grab the phone in black and blue colors for a 5,000 rupees ( approx. $70) or less when it hits the Indian market. So far we don’t have any update on availability in other markets.
