Realme has made its intentions clear for 2020. The brand wants to foray beyond smartphones and wishes to be recognized as a lifestyle brand. If hints emerging from China are to be believed, Realme TV seems to be in pipeline which will be another first for Oppo’s spin-off brand.

The hint about the Realme TV came from none other than the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Xu Qi Chase. At the Realme X50 launch event in China, he tipped that the young company hopes to follow the footsteps of compatriot brands like Xiaomi and OnePlus to explore opportunities in the fast-expanding smart TV market.

China-based tech blog, IT Home, reports that in his address Chase hinted that the first Realme-branded smart TVs could be unveiled sometime later this year.

There’s still no clarity on the features or market segment that Realme will be targeting with its TVs. With Xiaomi and OnePlus already making inroads in the smart TV segment and even Honor is waiting in the sidelines, Realme will be facing some tough competition when and if it decides to enter India.

In the smartphone segment, Realme continues to expand its portfolio with the latest addition of Realme 5i. As per Realme, it sold more than 5 million units of Realme 5 globally and now Realme 5i will be replacing it.
