Realme continues launching phones at a break-neck pace, and the latest in line is the Narzo 20 Pro which is positioned at the top rung of the new performance-centric Narzo 20 series. (Realme Narzo 20 Pro Review हिंदी में पढ़िए)

That it brings features like 65W fast charging, a powerful gaming chipset, and a high-refresh-rate screen to the affordable segment should suffice to put it on most people’s shortlist.

With phones coming in ridiculously thick and fast, using the permutations and combinations of familiar components, and with the entire segment reeling under the post-GST-hike turmoil, it’s frankly hard to keep track of the individual lineage.

So, instead of dwelling too much on how much of an improvement Narzo 20 is over the Narzo 10, in our Realme Narzo 20 Pro review, we will try and answer who the Narzo 20 Pro is for, what it does well, and where it falters.

Let’s start with the specs and price

Realme Narzo 20 Pro Review: Unboxing

There are no unpleasant surprises here. Realme isn’t skimping on the required basics. Contents include:

  • Handset with pre-applied screen protector
  • Transparent protective case
  • 65W Dart Charging Adapter
  • micro-USB Type-C to USB A cable
  • SIM ejector tool and documentation

Realme Narzo 20 Pro Review: Design and Build

Realme Narzo 20 Pro is very similar to the Realme 7 in terms of design and build. It’s just that Realme is using a different gradient pattern. This design similarity is not a bad thing, though.

The Narzo 20 Pro feels solid and looks good if not distinctive. All buttons and ports are within easy reach and the side-mounted fingerprint reader is conveniently accessible, fast, and reliable.

The frame and back can easily pass for metal or glass but are actually plastic. Tipping the scale at 198 grams and measuring 8.4mm in thickness, this is not a slim or compact phone but has curves in all the right places which make it quite comfortable to hold and manage.

The SIM tray has a dedicated card slot and you’ll find the USB Type-C port, audio jack and mono speaker all lined up symmetrically on the bottom edge.

Realme Narzo 20 Review: Display

The IPS LCD display has full HD+ resolutions and supports a 90Hz refresh rate. This is a good quality IPS LCD panel and color calibration is similar to what we have on other Realme phones.

Colors are well balanced, blacks in the dark mode are deep, and there is a color temperature toggle under display settings that lets you tune whites to a pleasant warm tone.

Outdoor visibility is above average and the screen was fairly legible on occasions when we had to use our phone under direct sunlight. The Narzo 20 Pro supports HD streaming on all popular apps including Netflix and Amazon Prime.

There is also Gorilla Glass protection (version unspecified) and a pre-installed screen protector with smudge-resistant oleophobic coating. So, overall, there isn’t much reason to complain when it comes to the display.

Realme Narzo 20 Review: Performance and Software

This is the segment where the Narzo 20 Pro shines. It’s powered by Helio G95 gaming chipset paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Realme has a useful gaming toolbar and a “carbon fiber” cooling system that does manage to hold up throttling to an extent.

Consequently, day-to-day usage was smooth and high-end games like Asphalt 8 and Call of Duty mostly run smoothly. By default the phone

The Realme UI running on the Narzo 20 series is based on Android 10. The skin is feature-rich and very customizable and has now evolved into a stable interface. Realme has reduced the number of preloaded apps and is using more of Google apps including the dialer and message app. As a result, call recording now works with a prompt that plays at both caller and receiver’s end.

Narzo 20 Pro supports relevant connectivity options like Dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi calling. The call quality is average and we did face some issues with noise cancellation in noisy ambiance.

Both the fingerprint sensor and face unlock work reliably well, and thus we didn’t face any issue unlocking the Narzo 20 Pro.

Realme Narzo 20 Pro review: Camera Performance

The camera is one area where the Narzo 20 Pro falls short of Realme 7. The 20 Pro uses a 48MP sensor as its primary camera and the image processing software tries to keep the colors natural.

We managed to capture decent details in proper lighting but the camera struggled with proper metering in tricky lighting or in lowlight situations.

For dark scenes, Realme ads a Night mode which-works reasonably well.

The primary camera is accompanied by an 8MP wide-angle camera, a 2MP portrait camera, and a 2MP macro camera – all of which are rather mediocre performers.

The selfie snapper is also an average performer. AI beautification is turned on by default for the front camera and we find that annoying.

So, if the camera is your priority, Realme 7 should serve as a better option.

Realme Narzo 20 Pro review: Battery and Audio

The 4500mAh battery on the Narzo 20 Pro can comfortably last for more than a day and Realme deserves some praise for bringing down 65W fast charging to under 15K segment! For anyone who’s asking, the 65W charger comes bundled in the box. No worries.

In our testing, the Narzo 20 Pro took around 45 to 55 minutes for a full charge which has has a slight variation to the 38-minute claim that Realme makes. This is still blessedly fast and a massive convenience.

The mono loudspeaker at the bottom gets quite loud and the audio quality is above average. Audio via headphones sounds pretty good.

Realme Narzo 20 Pro review: Verdict

Realme Narzo 20 is a very familiar phone and it’s mostly about dragging down some cherished features to a very affordable price point. At the end of the day, this is a performance-centric phone that qualifies has a worthy recommendation for consumers who are into mobile gaming.

65W Dart charging is certainly a big draw. The Realme 7, however, has better cameras. So, the choice between the two narrows down to better cameras vs faster charging. And we think most people would go for better cameras.

Pros

  • Dependable performance
  • Convenient 65W fast charging
  • Decent design
  • Good quality 90Hz IPS LCD Display

Cons

  • Mediocre camera performance
