Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Display, Design and Build Quality

Realme 3 Pro Vs Redmi Note 7 Pro comparison

Right when you pick up and hold both the devices, you would feel Redmi Note 7 pro to be bulkier than the Realme 3 Pro. While the former weighs around 186g, the latter feels handy and nimbler with a mass of 172g. Redmi’s heftiness could be attributed to its Gorilla Glass 5 body back and forth. Realme, on the other hand, has used a plastic back and Gorilla Glass 5 for the front.

We’d say that the glassy panel of Note 7 Pro looks and feels more premium. The Realme 3 could have faired a lot better it wasn’t for minor gripes. The concentric yellow rings on the camera and the chrome finish bordering the camera module just don’t feel right. The lack of micro USB Type-C port, clicky buttons, and a comparatively feeble vibration motor are other such minor peeve points that add up.

Realme 3 Pro Vs Redmi Note 7 Pro comparison

The camera hump is a problem on Note 7 Pro, especially since the bundled case fails to cloak it. This isn’t a problem with Realme 3 Pro.

Upfront we have similar 6.3-inch (1080×2340 pixel) IPS LCD display configurations with Dot-notch (U-shape) on Redmi and Dewdrop (V-shape) on Realme. While both of them offers color and contrast correction, the default white tone is more neutral in case of Realme display.

Realme 3 Pro offers the same RAM+ROM combos as the Redmi Note 7 Pro- 4GB RAM +64GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 128GB. While both of them offers expandable storage up to 256GB, the dedicated slot in Realme 3 Pro is simply icing on the cake.

When it comes to software and user interface, both of them have feature-packed skins on top of Android 9.0 Pie. The major gripe against the MIUI 10 are the intrusive ads and lack of an app drawer. However, you could disable the ads, slap on a third-party launcher and enjoy the customization granted by MIUI theme store. The phone might soon get the MIUI 11 update.

However, the company claims to patch the L1 certification support in future updates along with Netflix HD streaming compatibility. Redmi Note 7 Pro on the other hand, though supports L1 DRM rating, still doesn’t run Netflix and Amazon Prime HD streaming.

The major hype around Redmi Note 7 Pro has been its 48MP rear shooter. However, the catch is that it’s hidden within the Pro mode in the camera app. Moreover, by default, the camera output is 12MP due to the pixel binning technology. This facilitates lower file size using interpolation and is convenient for sharing and storage. The selfie snapper is a 13MP sensor.

Realme 3 Pro, on the other hand, bears 16MP primary rear sensor, that’s also employed on the OnePlus 6T. The front shooter is also a larger 25MP sensor. It also features a multi-frame synthesizer technology with which you get Ultra HD 64MP shots. You could record Slo-Mo videos at 960FPS and 4K resolution videos.

Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro: Real Life Camera Comparison

Under artificial lighting condition, both Realme 3 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro do an impressive job in metering and exposure.

While the Redmi Note 7 Pro camera output is truer to the real subject, at times you’ll get underexposed and bleached blues. Realme 3 Pro, on the other hand, tends to take sharper, warmer and over-saturated route.

You won’t go wrong with either of the phones during night photography. Capture the nightlife and take it up a notch with native night modes in the camera apps of both phones.

When it comes to portrait mode (night), edge detection is evenly balanced in both the phones. While Redmi Note 7 Pro’s bokeh implementation looks more appealing, the detailing is done better on Realme 3 Pro.

Overall, the low light photography is better with Realme 3 Pro with extra detailing and vibrant colors.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro tends to outmatch Realme 3 Pro in daylight. The former delivers more details and better color accuracy with some exceptions of overexposure. The Face detection algorithm is better in Redmi.

Realme 3 Pro on the other hand, relatively lacks sharpness and pops out the highlighted color in different scenes. Realme 3 Pro’s field of view is also cropped in portrait shots and selfies. However, it does shine with its quicker focus in macro mode.

Both phones gladly support Camera API 2.0. So you could draw out Google Camera’s computational photography.
