Realme 2 India launch slated for Aug 28; Expected to come with bigger battery, dual rear camera setup

OPPO’s sub-brand Realme took to Twitter recently, to announce the launch of its next budget smartphone ‘Realme 2’ on August 28 at 12 PM IST. Besides the launch date, the company has also teased the phone via Twitter posts, sparking viewer interest in its upcoming mobile. Realme gave out details like a bigger battery capacity – 4,230 mAh, as opposed to the 3410mAh battery in Realme 1. Other features expected on this mobile comprises fingerprint reader, display notch, rear mounted fingerprint sensor, and  dual cameras setup.

The company had recently segregated its business from its parent company OPPO, and registered itself as a separate entity. It is yet to be seen weather Realme will pitch its upcoming device nearby its May, 2018 launched predecessor Realme 1. The last launch was a huge success in India, and prompted Realme to expand as an individual firm, with focus on the budget smartphone segment.

Several leaks and reports had gathered details like Helio P60 chipset or higher, diamond-cut design, 13-megapixel main rear camera and 2-megapixel auxiliary sensor along with LED flash on Realme 2.

Realme 2 (Expected) Price in India

To recall, the Realme 1 starting price was Rs. 8,990 and went up till Rs. 13,990 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB memory variant at the time of its launch. Therefore one can assume that the smartphone will fall anywhere under the Rs. 15,000 mark, compensating for additional features like bigger battery and dedicated fingerprint scanner.
