Do We Really Need a Turing Phone Cadenza?

The Turing phone is getting way more attention than it deserves. The handset has been delayed umpteen times and now, the company that pledged the most secure phone “at most by the end of Q1 2016” has further reneged on the promise, and instead, floats a “futuristic phone” running ridiculously powerful specs that you don’t need and won’t get to see until next year.

Turing Smartphone

There are chances that this is hot air and hopeless fantasy fiction, but at the same time, these claims have been confirmed to be coming from Turing Robotics Industries.

So here is what the Turing Phone Cadenza offers:

  • Two Snapdragon 830 chips – Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 830 should start shipping next year, but we are still not sure why you would need two of those.
  • At a time when the world is debating the superfluity of 6GB RAM, Turning offers a total of 12Gigs
  • And then there are 4 nano SIM card slots. ( Umm.. ok)
  • A 100wH battery that takes power from three sources – a 2400mAh graphene superconductor battery, a 1600mAh lithium ion battery, and a hydrogen fuel cell. (Now that is something we could all use.)
  • A 60MP camera with F/1.2 aperture lens that can record 6K videos
  • 1 Terabyte storage and two MicroSD card slot
  • And the phone would be running Swordfish OS, a variant of Sailfish OS that is capable of running the convolutional neural network, Natural language learning, and Differential privacy.CrV1IwSUAAAYrSX

It is entirely possible that the Cadenza would materialize sometime next year, and we would be inclined to believe so if TIL hadn’t been so irresponsible with the deadlines in the past.

Either way, even if Turing manages to churn out promised hardware at reasonable prices (which is highly unlikely), there is no reason to justify why you would need that kind of Raw power or maybe even be excited about it, especially when there is no proper software to take advantage of it just yet. Unless you are an early adopter, of course.

The best phone is the one which is available right now and effortlessly does what you need it to.
