Range Rover Velar Autobiography Officially Debuts In India With Two Engine Options: Check Details Here

Good news for the Range Rover fans! Finally, Velar is available in the new Autobiography trim in India. It starts at Rs. 89.90 lakhs (ex-showroom), features a refreshed design, and is available with a mild-hybrid diesel powertrain. The Autobiography comes in four exterior finishes, including Batumo Gold, Arroios Gray, Varesine Blue, and Ostuni Pearl White.

Positioned as the new top-tier variant in the Range Rover Velar lineup, Autobiography comes with various new features. First, let’s discuss the additions in the vehicle’s exterior design.

Exterior

Range Rover Velar Autobiography launched in India

To begin with, the Autobiography trim features burnished copper accents on the bumpers and front fenders, along with the ‘Range Rover’ lettering. On the front, it gets Pixel LED headlights with Signature DRLs, while new 10-spoke 20-inch Stain Dark Gray alloy wheels dominate the side profile. Across all the exterior shades, you’ll get a dual-tone paint scheme as standard (with a black roof).

Interior

Range Rover Velar Autobiography launched in India

The Autobiography’s cabin has been updated with Windsor Leather upholstery in color combinations such as Cloud/Ebony, Deep Garnet/Ebony, and Caraway/Ebony. With suede cloth headlining, Shadow Gray Ash veneer finishes, and configurable ambient lighting, the cabin provides a plush and premium feel.

Technology

Adding to the feel are the 20-way massage, heated, and cooled front seats with driver memory function. Additional features include a 12.3-inch driver’s display, an 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display (with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), Meridian audio system (with 3D surround sound functionality), four-zone climate control with air purification, and a sliding panoramic sunroof (optional).

While the Adaptive Air Suspension isn’t exclusive to the Range Rover Velar Autobiography trim, the Terrain Response 2 system, which includes drive and off-road modes, is. The vehicle is also equipped with a powered tailgate (gesture-controlled), a 360-degree camera, a wade-sensing system, an anti-brake locking system, hill-descent control, and parking sensors (located on the front and rear).

Engine

Like the Dynamic SE, the Autobiography trim is available with a two-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 247 HP of peak power and 365 Nm of peak torque. However, the new variant is also available with a two-liter diesel engine with mild-hybrid technology; it produces 204 HP of peak power and 430 Nm of peak torque. While the former sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, the latter does it in 8.3 seconds.

Both engines are mated with an eight-speed automatic torque converter transmission unit, which sends power to all four wheels (yes, the Autobiography trim comes with all-wheel drive as standard).
