How to Get Touch To Search Back on Android Chrome Browser

Back in June 2015, Google added a cool feature to Chrome on Android, which personally managed to replace Chrome as the default browser on all my Android devices. Yes, we have applauded Google for Tap to Search before, and sincerely believe that is one of those immensely underrated and useful Chrome capabilities that can make a world of difference. And thus, it was indeed infuriating when Google quietly rolled it back.

What’s tap to search?

Tap to search or quick questions quick answers opens a contextual Google search page whenever you highlight a word. This, in turn, leads to smoother workflow for anyone used to reading on their Android phones or otherwise.

If you need a quick glance at what Google search has to say, just slide the damn page up, read and discard it with a downward swipe. The whole process is more intuitive and doesn’t break your continuity.

If it is missing, Here is how you can get it back

if you feel stranded by its absence, good news is that you can still get it back.

Step 1: Open Chrome://flags page by pasting it in your URL box.

Step 2: Open the hamburger menu and tap on Find in page option

Step 3: Now type ‘Enable Contextual Search’ and find it in the page

Step 4: change settings from default to enabled

Step 5: Now tap on relaunch now option that appears at the bottom

That’s it. This shall return Tap To Search feature on your Android
