Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chipset benchmarked ahead of launch

Qualcomm will organize the Snapdragon Summit 2023 in two months and the event is expected to include the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. However, the latest news is that the flagship SoC might launch earlier than the Summit, just like Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 did.

Ahead of the release, benchmarking details of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC have surfaced online that give an idea about what to expect with this chipset.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset: benchmarking details

The benchmark listing shared by Digital Chat Station via Weibo claims that the Geekbench 5 score of the Red Magic 9 (with a model number Nubix NX769) has a multi-score of 5977 and a single-core score of 1596.

The listing also reveals that the Motherboard’s “pineapple” moniker which is allegedly Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will run Android 14 and could be one of the few flagship smartphones running the successor of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 before 2023 ends.

The chipset is expected to have one primary core with 3.19GHz, next to five middle cores at 2.96GHz clock speeds, and two cores featuring 2.27GHz. Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station also corroborated the details by claiming that the SoC will equip one Cortex X4, five Cortex-A720, and two Cortex- A520 respectively. The 8 Gen 3 chipset will have an Adreno 750 GPU.

One more critical parameter reported by the tipster is that it is a regular version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. There might be one more version of the alleged chipset just like a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC for Galaxy that was used in the Galaxy S23 series and other premium smartphones.

If this is the case then an earlier leak that hinted at 2+3+2+1 Arm cores, unlike those above 1+5+2 might be another flagship-level Snapdragon SoC for late 2023 or sometime in 2024.

The benchmarks shared might be taken from a testing handset so the results should be considered with a grain of salt as they are subject to change when the smartphone and chipset become commercially available later in 2023.
