Google’s new Android Go, a software for entry-grade smartphones, gets the support from chipset makers Qualcomm and MediaTek. Both the companies will work alongside the Internet-giant to manufacture affordable smartphones – with as low as 1GB RAM and 8GB storage – that work well.

Android Go is a lightweight version of Android Oreo, announced this week in India. It is designed to be more efficient on less powerful hardware. The software will still be fast and secure and occupy less space.

Google has also designed custom apps for Android Go, including Assistant Go, Google Go and Files Go. The first set of Android Go phones will be available for purchase in next 2 to 3 months.
