PUBG Corporation is set to launch PUBG Mobile India, a new game tailored for the Indian market. It will adhere to a “secure and healthy gameplay environment”. The developers also envisage putting a $100 million investment in the country, to nurture the local gaming, esports, entertainment, and IT ecosystems.

On October 29, the PUBG Mobile team’s Facebook handle posted, “Tencent Games will terminate all service and access for users in India to PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG MOBILE Lite (together, “PUBG Mobile”) on October 30, 2020. The rights to publish PUBG MOBILE in India will be returned to the owner of the PUBG intellectual property.”

And now this new piece of news comes. Here’s what the company has announced —

PUBG Mobile India Plans

PUBG Corp. plans to conduct regular audits and verifications on the storage systems hosting the players’ personally identifiable data. This should assure data safety and privacy concerns of its users.

The game will be bespoke for the Indian audience. It will include virtual simulation training grounds. The new characters will get automatically clothed from the beginning. The hits will display green (not red) to dampen the violence quotient. And there will be new time restrictions to promote healthy gaming habits among its players.

The South Korean company has also divulged plans to build a local subsidiary in India with over 100 employees based in esports, business, and game development. It will be looking forward to partner with indigenous businesses to grow its gaming service. Not just that, it plans to invest 100 million USD in the country to enhance the gaming scene here.

There have been reports of PUBG Corp’s partnership with Microsoft to host PUBG and PUBG Mobile on Azure cloud had also sparked the speculation of its return. Now, all we got to see is how the Indian Govt. reacts to this.

This must be big news for the fans of the game. Prior to its ban in September, the game had more than 175 million installations in India, which accounted for 24% of the game’s lifetime downloads. Another figure states 50 million monthly active users in the country.

Post its ban, gamers flocked to the alternatives like Call of Duty Mobile. According to data from Entrackr, COD Mobile had amassed 1.15 million installs in the four days since the ban. Also, Fau-G, the native competition to PUBG is under work at this very moment.
