After a while Poco launched a phone, X3, that’s not a direct rebranding of an existing Xiaomi phone. This is one competitively specced and aggressively priced phone that covers a wide span between Rs. 16,999 and Rs. 19,999 where it will be up against Realme 7 series, Xiaomi’s Note 9, and Samsung’s Galaxy M31s.
We already have some practical experience with Poco X3 (review), Realme 7 Pro (review) and Galaxy M31s (review), and if you are confused between the three, a detailed comparison should perhaps help you put things in better perspective.

Poco X3 versus Realme 7 Pro versus Samsung Galaxy M31s: Design and Display
The Poco X3 is the only one of these three that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. The Realme 7 Pro and Galaxy M31s, however, offer AMOLED displays that are known for deeper blacks and better multimedia experience. The use of AMOLED screen also allows these phones to include Always-on display. On the other hand, the 120Hz refresh rate makes the Poco X3 more fluid and lends a gaming advantage.
Of the three phones, the Realme 7 Pro is the slimmest and lightest. The Galaxy M31s (review) is quite ergonomic but its 6000mAh battery makes it a tad heavier. The Poco X3 is the heaviest and thickest of the three to the extent where it gets downright unwieldy.
A part of the heft can be attributed to its sturdier metal side frame. The use of Gorilla Glass 5 on the X3 should also make it relatively more resistant to drops.
Poco X3 versus Realme 7 Pro versus Samsung Galaxy M31s: Performance and Software
When it comes to performance, the Poco X3 has a definite lead. All of these three employ LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage, but the X3 has a more capable Snapdragon 732G octa-core chipset that positions it higher than the Realme 7 Pro and Galaxy M31s. The X3 also offers more RAM and Storage for a relatively lesser price.
Having said that, the Realme 7 Pro with Snapdragon 720G doesn’t fall very short. Most high-end games are playable and day-to-day usage is snappy.
Software on all of the three phones is based on Android 10. We’d say that Samsung’s One UI has a more appealing interface and the Galaxy M31s is the only phone of the three that includes Auto call recording. What you’d prefer is, however, a subjective matter. MIUI on Poco X3 is system ad-free and the Realme UI on the 7 Pro further dials down on bloatware. Of the two, we prefer Realme UI over MIUI 12.
Poco X3 versus Realme 7 Pro versus Samsung Galaxy M31s: Camera and Battery
All of these three phones have 64MP primary camera sensors. Samsung has so far proven to be the best when it comes to versatile camera systems in the affordable segment. The Wide-angle shooter, macro camera, and portrait camera on the Galaxy M31s do not feel like afterthoughts.
The Poco X3 and Realme 7 Pro are quite close in terms of camera performance and it’s hard to pick one winner. At times the Realme 7 Pro outperforms Poco X3 with better details in shadows and background. The Poco X3 consistently gets the texture right and is a tad better with portraits.
The Galaxy M31s enhance images to make them look more attractive, and that’s perhaps not a bad thing.
When it comes to battery, the Galaxy M31s and Poco X3 both have massive 6000mAh capacities with 25W and 33W charging, respectively. Realme 7 Pro makes up for its relatively smaller 4500mAh battery with super-fast 65W charging, which is indeed an awesome experience.
So, when it comes to battery backup, none of the three disappoints but the combination of 4500mAh battery and 65W fast charging feels more convenient.
Poco X3 versus Realme 7 Pro versus Samsung Galaxy M31s comparison verdict
Of these three phones, the Poco X3 lays the best specs on paper. We’d say the Galaxy M31s more finesse against the bigger and bulkier X3, but the feeble Exynos 9611 puts it at a disadvantage. The Realme 7 Pro might fall short on paper, but it is the most comfortable to wield, has very convenient battery charging, an AMOLED display, and still employs a very capable chipset.
