Panasonic unveiled its MirAIe AI enabled Smart Home Appliances in India

Its 2020 and we are at the onset of a smart and connected world. This means everything from household appliances to our modes of commute to the electronics in the workspace would be powered by AI. Well today, Panasonic presented its vision with MirAIe at the forefront.

MirAIe is Panasonic’s in-house IoT platform that will harness AI to control a slew of appliances within your homes. This consists of air conditioners, TVs, ceiling fans, water heaters, washing machines and many more. The MirAIe application is available to download from both the Play Store and the iOS app store. On a similar note, it will have integration with Google and Siri voice assistants. It is utilizing Zigbee under the hood, which is considered a low-latency, low-power and low-cost network protocol. MirAIe was developed at Panasonic’s India Innovation Centre in Bangalore.

Panasonic vaunts the security of your data that would be used in edge computing as well as those sent to the cloud. The brand’s Indian Chief, Mr. Manish Sharma underscored their emphasis over democratizing the whole ecosystem so that a smart gizmo doesn’t cost you a whole more over the non-smart counterpart.

The MirAIe based Air-conditioners will be the first to launch, followed by the inverter range and other products in phases. Even products from Anker (a Panasonic subsidiary) gets the smart overhaul. So, you may look forward to smart doorbells, switches, and plugs.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Sharma said, “We are aiming to drive around 35% of our appliances sales in India next fiscal from connected appliances which are at present nil. This is far higher than the industry average of 2-3%. Since we manufacture our ACs in India, we will be able to easily scale it up while for some other products it will take some time. With the advent of 5G, IoT will be driving the next round of transformation in the digital world. As per our research, over 75% are looking for specific requirements related to ease of use, safety, monitoring misuse, service reminders and personalize usage patterns,” Sharma said.
