Oppo showcased its take on the under-screen camera and premiered MeshTalk technology on the stage of MWC Shanghai 2019. Earlier this month, Oppo had teased the in-display camera as a perfect notchless smartphone screen experience. And as for MeshTalk, it is their proprietary technology that let you communicate with other OPPO devices without cellular networks, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Let’s go into the details.

Oppo Under-Screen Camera

Oppo employs a customized camera module placed under a “highly-transparent” material. This module uses specialized algorithms and zoning control on the screen to capture and channelize more light. This is augmented by beauty filters and a smart algorithm that manages haze and white balance.

MeshTalk as aforementioned is a proprietary tech that lets transmission of texts, voice messages, and real-time voice calls between OPPO devices within a range of 3km without cellular networks, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Another user case scenario is the creation of temporary local area networks (LAN) to engage in group chats. This way a single relay could expand to a larger range. Oppo achieved this tech by tweaking its communication chipset. Oppo bets on its less power consumption, long distance coverage and privacy due to end-to-end encryption.

Oppo 5G and IoT smart home application

Oppo exhibits its latest achievements in 5G and IoT- fast cloud gaming on OPPO Reno 5G and the expanse of its open IoT platform supporting products from 20 plus categories, including 260 plus devices from a variety of brands.
