At its INNO Day 2021, Oppo has launched its Find N folding phone. And although it takes a leaf out of Samsung’s playbook, the Chinese company has designed the foldable with a more compact build and better hinge mechanism. Oppo has reportedly been working on this for the last 4 years and before coming up with this consumer-ready variant, it had gone through several prototypes. So, here’s how all those iterations over the years have finally transpired into: [हिंदी में पढ़ें]

Oppo Find N Specs

The key difference between this and the Z Fold 3 (review) is apparent right off the bat. The cover screen on the Find N is smaller, a bit broader but overall handier than the narrow one on the Samsung foldable. More precisely this OLED panel stretches 5.49-inches diagonally with an 18:9 aspect ratio and only a 60Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the inner main screen, which Oppo calls the Serene Display extends 7.1 inches with an 8.4:9 aspect ratio in the unfolded state. In contrast to the outer display, this one’s an LTPO panel though with up to a 120Hz refresh rate. But other than that, Oppo claims both these screens are calibrated for color and brightness parity. Speaking of which, the inner display also comes with an in-built ambient sensor that endows 10,240 automatic brightness levels and the thing can go as bright as 1000 nits.

However, we are not done with the display description here. Being a folding handset, the Find N display has a 12-layer structure with a 0.03mm Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) on top. Not just that, you also get Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

Another impressive feat of the Find N is its seemingly creaseless canvas. Compared to the competition, it has got up to 80 percent less crease, as attested by TÜV Rheinland. The German certification site also tells that this device is tested to withstand more than 200,000 folds as well as -20℃ temperature. The former is possible thanks to an in-house engineered Flexion Hinge with 136 individual parts. This mechanical joint allows for various form factors between 50 to 120 degrees like clamshell and FlexForm. It can also be shut with a satisfactory clasp leaving a 0.01mm gap only.

Now, coming to the internals of Oppo Find N, you get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage, a 4500mAh battery, 33W SuperVOOC wired charging, 15W AirVOOC wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The software on top is Android 11 based ColorOS 12 with bespoke features for this unique form factor. Some highlights include the aforementioned Flexform mode (to use as a laptop), a split-screen mode, a split keyboard a floating window option, a split-camera UI, and a Seamless Relay feature to seamlessly switch tasks between the two screens.

As for cameras, there is a 50MP led triple camera setup at the back, a 32MP selfie snapper on the cover display, and a 32MP camera inside.

Lastly, the repertoire also comprises of X-axis linear vibration motor, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, 5G, 4G LTE, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, a USB Type-C port, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
