Turns out the refresh rate onboard the OnePlus 11 5G is janky just like that of the OnePlus 10 Pro. Here’s why.
OnePlus 11 5G Refresh Rate is Sloppy
The OnePlus 11 5G just arrived and it has already seen a positive response from tech reviewers and users alike. It sports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate with a smart feature that adjusts the refresh rate based on what you are viewing and interacting with the screen. However, time and again, OnePlus has a reputation for a sloppy refresh rate as the panel keeps adjusting it.
The OnePlus refresh rate on Instagram has to be one of the popular examples. When you scroll on the news feed on Instagram, the high refresh rate helps to scroll faster and smoother. However, the implementation of how OnePlus and Samsung interpret fine-tuning of refresh rates differs greatly.
On one hand, Samsung Galaxy S22’s panel scrolls at 120Hz and only reverts to 24Hz when the screen is static before dipping down. The OnePlus 10 Pro/11, on the other hand, kicks in aggressive refresh rate adjustments where the screen scrolls at 120Hz without any hassle. However, the motion when the scrolling ends is simply abrupt as the refresh rate goes from 120Hz to 30Hz to 5Hz at an instance.
The motion is quick and many of the users might not even register but when you use tools to display refresh rates, the adjustments become apparent. A user tried viewing 24Hz content on OnePlus 11 5G that locked itself at 30Hz giving rather sloppy motions. OnePlus has been suffering a similar fate on quite some apps such as YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook among others.
The OnePlus 11 5G is barely a few days old and we still have a lot of time to see whether OnePlus pushes an update to fix the glaring issues that lie before in case this is a software glitch and not something the hardware is forcing.
