The delivery dates of Ola S1 and S1 Pro have been delayed by another month to December 15. The EV startup company had previously planned to ship the Ola electric scooters by October which was later shifted to the end of November. Now, it has been pushed further down the line.

Ola Electric cites the global chip and electronic shortage as the reason behind the delayed availability of its highly anticipated Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters. The company has been receiving pre-orders of the scooters post the launch back in August.

Ola S1 and S1 Pro Launch

The indigenous manufacturer is informing its customers via email which states, “Due to the ongoing global shortage of chipsets and electronic parts, there are some unavoidable delays to your Ola S1 delivery. We apologise for this delay and assure you that we are ramping up production as fast as we can so you can get your Ola S1 at the earliest.”

Now, Ola Electric is gearing up to deliver the first batch of S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters in the timeline of December 15 to December 30. Besides, the electric mobility maker is planning to extend its test-ride plans to more than 1000+ cities by December 15. Currently, Ola offers test rides in select nine major cities including Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru.

“This is the largest ever direct to consumer experience initiative in the history of Indian automotive retail,” says Ola Electric while claiming its test ride drives as the largest in the market.

The company had opened a two-day window for customers to book the S1 and S1 Pro scooter in September and had recorded a sale of Rs 1,100 crore. But, now because of the delays, some of those customers are concerned. To them, Ola has assured to fully refund the booking amount or even the full amount, in case it fails on the actual delivery.
