In a matter of no time, we have three gaming smartphone from three different brands. After Razer Phone and Xiaomi-backed Black Shark phone, Chinese smartphone maker, Nubia, has introduced its Red Magic – a phone dedicated to hardcore gamers.
As we saw in the leaked renders, the Red Magic has been designed keeping in mind the needs of “extreme gamers”. It has a metal unibody design, edgy corners, and a slope that tapers to the edges on the rear panel along with the glowing LED bar. Up front, the Red Magic’s display is protected by NEG Dinorex T2X-1 glass.

Nubia Red Magic Features
Although Nubia screams Red Magic as its gaming phone, the specifications seem very standard. It comes with a normal 6-inch FHD+ (2160×1440 pixels) 18:9 display with no standout feature like, say, the 120Hz refresh rate panel that we saw on the Razer Phone.
Under the hood, the Nubia’s Red Magic is powered by 2017 flagship chipset, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, instead of its successor SD 845. It is not necessarily bad but we expected the latest chipset on a phone dedicated to gamers. Anyways, the SD 835 is also capable enough to muscle through most games available on Play store.
However, to make the Red Magic handle high-end games and provide a seamless gaming experience with long gaming sessions, Nubia has provided air vents on the back of the phone. The vents are expected to dispense heat and consequently avoid CPU throttling.

Other specifications of Red Magic gaming phone include 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage, a big 3800mAh battery, fingerprint sensor on the rear, and Android Oreo 8.1 OS. Nubia also claims that it’ll be using its “GameBoost” software on Red Magic to offer better performance.
Nubia has also included decent optics on the Red Magic gaming phone. There is a 24-megapixel camera sensor on the rear with f/1.7 aperture lens, and an 8-megapixel shooter on the front for selfies.
Nubia Red Magic Price and Availability
The Nubia Red Magic has launched in China where it has been priced at 2,499 yuan (roughly to Rs. 26,237) for the 6GB RAM variant and 2,999 yuan (roughly to Rs. 31,486) for the 8GB variant. The pre-order open on April 25th. There are no words as of Red Magic India launch as of now.
