Nubia has debuted its gaming flagship for the year – the Red Magic 5G. As evident from the name, this is a 5G phone. It also packs Qualcomm’s finest slice of mobile silicon to date and other top-trim specs. Walking with the trend, the phone also sports a 144Hz refresh rate panel. That’s a leap from the 90Hz on its prequel (review).
Well for whatever reason, Nubia has let go of the numerical appendage in its moniker. Or is it because of the 5G suffix, who knows!

The standout design tradition continues with a gaudy RGB light panel and swanky colors – Hacker Black, Mars Red, and Cyber Neon paint jobs. Hella showy names, eh? Well, Nubia retains the capacitive shoulder triggers. This boasts an impressive 300Hz sampling rate, which should bring about a minimal touch input latency.
The front is a 6.65-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ (2340x1080pixels) resolution. The panel is contoured by petite bezels at the top and bottom.

The selfie snapper is an 8MP sensor. At the back, you get a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide snapper and 2MP macro module.
Unlock using either the face or under-display fingerprint scanner and what you have is Red Magic OS skinned upon Android 10.
Inside, the Snapdragon 865 engines with 5G capability thanks to an X55 modem. Yes, it is dual-mode 5G, in case you’re wondering. It is fueled by a 4,500mAh battery that supports a 55W fast charger, and Power Delivery 3.0. To tame the temperature, Nubia has packed an active air-cooling system that vaunts to keep the heat under up to 18-degree celsius.
