The Tech world sees leaks and rumors every single day, but there are times when people from major brands slip up accidentally revealing some specs that weren’t meant to be disclosed. Such incidents can be a huge headache for the company and the same happened recently when during the MWC 2023, Qualcomm’s SVP & GM of Mobile, Compute & XR Business unit, Alex Katouzian, posted an update on his LinkedIn account congratulating Carl Pei’s Nothing on using the Snapdragon 8 Series chipset on the Nothing Phone (2).

However, tech enthusiasts who are eagle-eyed most of the time, noticed that the post had mentioned the exact SoC that was being used on the upcoming Nothing device, and that will be the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Although the mention was very subtle, but it was enough to cause an uproar amongst the fans of the community. The post was edited within minutes with the mention of the chipset being removed, but by then it was too late. The screenshot below clearly shows the disclosure of using Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 for Nothing Phone (2).

Nothing Phone (2) launching soon

Nothing Phone (2) will be the 2nd smartphone from the company after its predecessor wrote its own success story. The company claims that they have sold more than 650,000 units of Nothing Phone 1 to date, which is mighty impressive as it was the 1st ever smartphone from the brand.

For now, we hardly know anything about the Nothing Phone (2) apart from this accidental leak. However, Carl Pei earlier confirmed that it will be more premium than the 1st one so we expect a better build, redesigned Glyph interface, better hardware, and more.

It might have been a headache for the brand, but this accidental leak has surely added to the hype of the upcoming device in the market. The incident also showed that even major brands can make silly mistakes, so if you are someone with a new startup, you are surely allowed some. Nothing Phone (2) is scheduled to launch by Q3 so there is plenty of time for it. However, we expect details to keep trickling in once in a while so that the buzz keeps going.
