Bridging the gap between the 6 and 8, HMD Global launched Nokia 7 – the second smartphone with ‘Bothie’ feature that will initially retail in China for a starting price of around Rs. 25,000. From the Indian market perspective, Nokia 7, being a more affordable flagship, makes a lot of sense.

Nokia 7 Features

Nokia 7 has the near same display size (5.2-inch, Full HD) as the Nokia 8 (Quick Review) and is about the same in thickness (7.9mm), but it occupies quite a lesser footprint, perhaps because the fingerprint sensor has been shifted to the rear. The body is splash resistant.

Hmd global trumpeted its ‘Bothie’ camera feature to distinguish Nokia 8 from existing Android flagships. The same has now been passed on to the 7. While shooting Bothies, both the front and rear cameras share a portion of the viewfinder simultaneously to help ‘capture both sides of a story.’

There are no dual cameras on the Nokia 7, but the phone still retains wide f/1.8 aperture Carl Zeiss optics with dual-tone flash. If Nokia could successfully pass on the near same Nokia 8 camera quality to a lower price point, that should count as a huge win. The rear camera can record up to 4K videos and supports OZO 360-degree directional audio capture.

The front 5MP camera is one of the rare few to include AutoFocus and it’s also aided by wide f/2.0 aperture lens.

It will be available in two RAM options – 4GB and 6GB (LPDDR4) – each powered by Snapdragon 630 octa-core chipset with 64GB internal storage. Other features include stock Android Nougat software, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, dual Hybrid SIM tray, 4G VoLTE support, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and 3000mAh battery.

Nokia 7 India Price and Availability

The Nokia 7 will go on sale starting October 24 in China. The 4GB RAM variant will cost CNY 2,499 (or Rs. 25,000 approx.) and the 6GB RAM variant will cost CNY 2,699 (or Rs. 26,500 approx.).
