Nokia 6.1 Plus (X6) Expected Soon, HMD Global Teases Upcoming Launch Event In India

HMD Global last major launch in India happened in April where Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco officially landed in the country. Since then, the company has been active in other markets like China and Russia where they announced a couple of new phones in the time being. However, earlier this week company has teased a new posted hitting that its next India launch event soon while announcing a Nokia fan contest. Interestingly, the fan contest winners will get to attend the Nokia’s upcoming launch event.

While teasing the upcoming event, HMD global hasn’t revealed what it will be launching in India soon. If you consider the recent global announcements than it could be Nokia 2.1 or Nokia 5.1 or Nokia 5.1 Plus aka Nokia X5 or Nokia 6.1 Plus aka Nokia X6. There is also a possiblity that Nokia announces multiple devices at its upcoming India launch event. If reports and rumors are anything to believed the Nokia 6.1 Plus is likely to launch at this upcoming HMD Global event.

What really fueled the Nokia X6 aka Nokia 6.1 Plus rumors is a twitter poll created by HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas back in May 2018. In his poll question “Should we bring Nokia X6 to other markets too?” which received overwhelming respose with 92 percent votes.

Recently the phone was spotted on the official Indian website with its user guide and India SAR details being listed. This further suggests the upcoming event could see the launch of the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

Nokia 6.1 Plus Features

The Nokia 6.1 Plus (or Nokia X6) is first HMD Global phone to feature a display notch. The phone comes with a 5.8-inch FHD+ 19:9 display with 1080x2280pixels resolution. The phone is powered by the same Snapdragon 636 chipset which is found in heart of Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. It is packed with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

As for the optics, the Nokia 6.1 Plus includes dual rear camera setup of 16-megapixel coupled with a 5-megapixel sensor. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture that sit within the notch itself. The dual-SIM Nokia 6.1 Plus is likely to support dual sim dual VoLTE. The phone houses a 3,060mAh battery with support for fast charging via USB Type-C.

Nokia 6.1 Plus Price in India

If we go by the Hong Kong price, the Nokia 6.1 Plus price in India should be approx Rs 20,100. Like most Nokia phones, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is also is likely to be Amazon exclusive in India.
