Vivo X21 Goes Official: Notch and Under Display Fingerprint Sensor

Within hours of Oppo R15 duo announcement, the sister company, Vivo, is out with its display notch phone – the Vivo X21 which went official in China. Last weeks Vivo teased the Vivo X21 on Weibo revealing its March 19 launch date. Apart from display notch, the phone boasts of Vivo’s in-display fingerprint sensor. (हिंदी में पढ़े)

Vivo X21 Features

Aesthetically speaking, the biggest attraction of the Vivo X21 is 19:9 aspect ratio display that accommodates a notch on the top. The X21 packs a massive 6.28-inch display with a full HD+ resolution. The phone has impressive 90.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. Vivo offers the X21 in two variants – one come with a regular rear-mounted fingerprint sensor while the second one has an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Talking about the innards, Vivo has housed its X21 with a 14nm Snapdragon 660 mobile processor, which can clock up to 2.2GHz. The chipset is assisted by 6GB of RAM and 128GB  internal storage. The rear-mounted fingerprint variant comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. Both variants support microSD card and can be used to expand storage up to 256GB.

The Vivo X21 rear panel boasts a dual-camera setup of 12MP primary camera paired with a 5MP secondary snapper, alongside LED flash. Up front, the phone is packed with a 12-megapixel selfie camera. Vivo has refreshed its camera app with its own Rubik Cube technology AI features.

The phone comes running on Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.0 out of the box. Vivo claims it has used a dedicated Qualcomm AIE artificial intelligence chip to enable AI driven facial recognition and company’s own AI-driven ‘Jovi’ virtual assistant. The phone also has an AK4376A Hi-Fi chip for an immersive audio experience.

For connectivity, the X21 supports options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It comes with a 3,200mAh battery which keeps it going.

Vivo X21 Price and Release Date

The Vivo X21 64GB GB variant is priced at RMB 2,898 while the under-display fingerprint model will retail for RMB 3,598. The rear-mounted fingerprint sensor variant of the Vivo X21 is slated to go on sale from March 24th. Similarly, the under-display version of X21 will be made available from March 28th. Vivo offers them in in Aurora White, Ruby Red, and Black colors.
