MWC 2018: Nokia 7 Plus With Snapdragon 660 and New Nokia 6 Announced

HMD Global today almost literally set the stage on the fire with as many as 5 new phone launches. However, the biggest take away was the announcement of Nokia 7 Plus. It becomes the first Nokia smartphone to flaunt a full vision 18:9 display. HMD Global also announced Nokia 6 (2018) globally alongside the Nokia 7. Both these phones will now be part of Google’s Android One program.

Nokia 7 Plus Features

The Nokia 7 Plus is mainly an upgraded version of the Nokia 7 which is already available in China for some time now. The biggest attraction in the Nokia 7 Plus is it’s almost bezel-less 6-inch screen that comes with FullHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio.

In the Nokia 7 Plus, HMD Global has employed Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 system-on-chip along with 4GB RAM.

HMG Global renewed its partnership with ZEISS optics for Nokia 7 Plus. It comes with dual camera setup of 12MP wide-angle camera with a 13MP camera that delivers 2x optical zoom. Nokia claims it has AI imaging features with the ability to modify lighting conditions and add masks. It comes in two color options: Black/Copper and White/Copper. The phone is aided by a 3800 mAh battery. It supports both fast charging and wireless charging. The Nokia 7 Plus runs on Stock Android Oreo out of the box. Nokia has said it will be upgraded to Android P after its launch.

Nokia 7 Plus Price and Release Date

  •  Nokia 7 Plus price in Europe is set at €399, excluding taxes and subsidies. It roughly translates to Rs. 31,800. Nonetheless, Nokia 7 Plus India price likely to be in around Rs 25,000.
  • Nokia 7 Plus release date in Europe is set for early April.

Nokia 6 2018 Features

The Nokia 6 (2018) is the other big Android One announcement and now goes global with today’s MWC 2018 showcasing. The New Nokia 6 aesthetics are same as its predecessor. It boasts of a 6000 series Aluminum unibody shell with a 5.5-inch full HD screen covered with a 2.5D curved Glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The biggest difference between Nokia 6 (2017) and Nokia 6 (2018) what’s under the hood. The 2018 edition of Nokia 6 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC. It comes with Nokia’s Bothie feature. The company has promised face unlock feature via OTA update later in Q2.

It comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage options. This time Nokia has gone in with USB-C fast-charging support and Nokia spatial audio. The phone comes in  Black/Copper, White/Iron and Blue/Gold color options.

  • The Nokia 6 2018 retail price in Europe set for €279 excluding taxes and subsidies.
  • The Nokia 6 2018 release date is also set for early April 2018.
