After the successful launch of its affordable XQ Dual and CQ, Mobiistar is back with its next offering for India, the Mobiistar X1 Dual. The new Selfie star from the Vietnamese major brings together an interesting set of features that you’d usually see only on more premium phones that cost twice as much.

For a very reasonable price, the Mobiistar X1 Dual offers dual selfie cameras, a trendy 18:9 display panel, a beautiful glass-finish body and runs the latest Android 8.1 Oreo software. But is it a phone that you should buy? To answer that, we took the X1 dual for a spin and here is what we discovered.

Mobiistar X1 Dual Design and Display

The Most impressive aspect of the Mobiistar X1 Dual has to be its design. The phone confirms to the modern trends, looks absolutely stunning, and is extremely comfortable to wield. The side frame running around the edges has a metallic finish and the 2.75D glass at the front adds distinguishable curves, something we usually see only on high-end phones.

The phone also flaunts attractive glass-finish back (the material used is polycarbonate, though) with a symmetrically placed fingerprint sensor and rear camera. The back panel isn’t flat and tactfully curves towards the edges to facilitate a firm grip.

The Mobiistar XQ Dual is a great looking phone and feels extremely solid in hands. And it’s further complemented by a gorgeous display. The 5.7-inch screen on the handset has deep blacks, punchy colors and high contrast. There is no harsh blue tint and the screen is quite light on the eyes.

  • The 3.5mm audio jack is present at the top.
  • MicroUSB charging port and speaker grill are present at the bottom.
  • The fingerprint sensor, power key, and volume rocker are easily accessible.
  • Mobiistar also bundles a protective case and headphones in the X1 Dual box.

Mobiistar X1 Dual Performance, Software, and Battery

The Mobiistar X1 Dual is powered by octa-core MediaTek chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Consumers can further add up to 128GB of secondary microSD card storage.

In our first few days of testing, we are yet to stumble across any performance glitch. UI transitions are smooth, and the X1 dual can handle multitasking reasonably well. The day-to-day performance is quite agreeable. All casual games and most high-end games run well too.

The software on the Mobiistar X1 Dual is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The interface is light and well optimized. Mobiistar hasn’t loaded any third party bloatware, and that’s something we appreciate.

Call quality is excellent in our area. It’s still too soon to comment on the battery backup but for the first few days that we have been using X1 dual, we didn’t have any issue going past the one day mark on a single charge.

  • Day-to-day performance is smooth. Casual games and most high-end games run well on the phone.
  • We didn’t encounter any unnatural heating on Mobiistar X1 Dual
  • The software is based on latest Android 8.1 Oreo and is well optimized
  • Call quality has been excellent so far.
  • In our first few days of testing, we are getting one-day battery mileage with moderate to basic usage.

Mobiistar X1 Dual Face Unlock and Fingerprint Sensor

The Mobiistar X1 Dual puts its selfie cameras to another good use with Face Unlock. The feature is still rare in this price bracket and works quite efficiently even in low light. The software is smart enough to keep your phone locked when you are not looking at it or when your eyes are closed.

The fingerprint sensor on the rear is present right where our index finger lies. The sensor is consistently accurate and can unlock the phone in no time.

Mobiistar X1 Dual Camera expectations

Like other Mobiistar phones, the X1 Dual also takes selfie-experience religiously. On the front, the phone has a 13MP primary camera paired with an additional 8MP shooter that can be used to shoot wide-angle selfies or groupies. The front camera also benefits from an elaborate 7-level Face Beautify mode and a diffused LED flash that comes in handy in low-light situations.

The X1 dual is also equipped with a 13MP rear camera that can record up to 1080p Full HD videos. The camera hardware is certainly quite tempting, especially for people who care about selfies, and we hope the performance matches our expectation. We will be putting the three Mobiistar X1 Dual snappers through their paces and will reserve our judgment till we are done with our testing.
