Microsoft Bing Gets AI-powered Visual Search, Much-like Google Lens

Microsoft’s web-search engine, Bing has added the visual search blessed with AI to its platform. The feature facilitates users to search the web using their camera. Imagine you see a dog and wants to know what breed it is, click the picture, and the Bing will search its online directory to let you know.

Microsoft Bing ‘Visual Search’ Features

Additionally, you can even shop from your photos for fashion and home furnishings. Upload a pic into the app’s search box, and Bing will return visually-similar jackets, prices, and details for where to purchase.

Without a doubt, the feature is very much similar to Google Lens and Samsung’s Bixby Vision. Both are backed by artificial intelligence (AI) for image recognition and tasks like translation and scanning QR code. Microsoft is slowly integrating all these features on its Bing platform.

“Today we’re launching new intelligent ‘Visual Search’ capabilities that build upon the visual technology already in Bing so you can search the web using your camera. Now you can search, shop and learn more about your world through the photos you take,” the Bing team wrote in a blog post.

These new Visual Search capabilities are available in the US on the Bing app for iOS and Android, and for Microsoft Launcher (Android only). It will also be available for Microsoft Edge browser for Android, and the firm said that it would be coming soon to Microsoft Edge for iOS and Bing.com.
