Micromax Canvas Infinity is the second affordable phone to flaunt an 18:9 display. Earlier, LG Q6 was the lone player in the Indian market that was offering a near bezel less display on mid-range smartphones and now, with Micromax doing the same, you get two options to choose between.

But, does the Indian smartphone brand, Micromax, have enough power to keep the LG Q6 at bay? Let’s compare and find out:

Design

Both the LG Q6 and Canvas Infinity have the screen dominating the most of the fascia. They both sport a metal unibody design, curved edges, minimal bezels, wide screen display and on-screen navigation buttons.

However, once the phone is turned around you will spot the difference. The LG Q6 looks refreshingly unique from the rear as well, even when it’s made of plastic. The Micromax Canvas Infinity looks rather customary on the rear with a metal and plastic back panel. On Micromax Canvas Infinity we have a fingerprint sensor, which is missing on Q6 and counts as a major drawback.

Display

As a matter of fact, both devices sports an 18:9 screen aspect ratio. The screen on both the smartphones offers substantial screen real estate without bloating up the handset and that makes them an excellent choice for gaming, video playback, and browsing.

In LG Q6, we have 5.5-inch of FHD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. Whereas its counterpart, Micromax has got 5.7-inch HD+ display (a tad bigger than the Q6) with a resolution of 720 by 1440 pixels.

If size is not a deciding factor, then the LG Q6 is a clear winner here. The phone has got a slightly higher than full-HD resolution and good viewing angles.

Performance

Enough of similarities lets talk about the differences! P.S. both devices run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat software. However, the Micromax Canvas Infinity will get a sure shot update to Android O.

Here, Micromax Canvas Infinity is powered by Snapdragon 425 SoC, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable to up to 128GB via dedicated microSD slot. On the other side, LG Q6 is powered by Octa-Core Snapdragon 435 processor, which is backed by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space, which you can expand up to 2TB.

The LG Q6 employs a better processor under its hood, but with a sharper display and heavier UI, the SoC will have to work a lot harder. The performance will be very close on both handsets, but Canvas Infinity seems to have an edge here.

Camera and Battery

Buckle up, as we enter into the round that will decide the ultimate winner. It starts with a major miss, as the primary cameras of LG Q6 and Micromax Canvas Infinity feature a 13MP sensor with an LED flash and f/2.0 aperture as well.

Jumping on to the front camera, Micromax takes a huge leap as the Canvas Infinity comes with a 16MP sensor, compared to Q6’s 5MP camera. Infinity camera also sports a soft selfie flash, f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, and face beauty modes, which is missing on Q6 camera.

Comparing the battery performances in these devices, LG Q6’s 3000mAh battery with turbo-charging support plays an upper hand here against the Micromax Infinity’s 2900mAh battery which is without any fast charging support.

The Verdict

Who Should Buy The LG Q6?

If you prioritize an 18:9 display, the LG Q6 has a better one. However, it’s also more expensive, is missing a fingerprint sensor and doesn’t have a performance edge.

Who Should Buy Micromax Canvas Infinity?

The Canvas Infinity feels quite convincing for its price. It’s meant for people who are looking for a good looking and unique phone under 10,000 INR.
