Early this year, Vivo started the trend of Synaptics powered in-display fingerprint sensor on mobile phones with its Vivo X20 Plus UD. This is a feature that has been long overdue and it looks like we will finally get to see it on many major flagships/premium smartphone launched in 2018.

At least, the Mi 7 will have one. Reports of Mi 7 launch have been rife since February, but the phone has been repeatedly delayed and many said it could be because of the optical fingerprint sensor. The reason sounded absurd back then but after the latest report, the explanation seems plausible.

While it is to be noted that the development came on top of the earlier alleged leak of Mi 7 render with an under display fingerprint sensor. It revealed that the phone will sport a 6.01-inch OLED display made by Samsung. Apart from this, the Mi 7 is rumored to rock the octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset and up to 8GB of RAM.
