Meitu T8 Uses AI App To Snap Better, More Good-looking Selfies

Meitu, the Chinese selfie app and smartphone company, has brought out its latest offering, a phone called T8, that makes use of a feature called Magical AI Beautification App that works along the same lines as the company’s other beauty apps and helps click great selfies.

As per company claims, the T8 is the first smartphone to offer a DSLR-like performance as well as photo quality with some help from its dual pixel technology.

The phone comes wrapped in a cermaic body and runs on a a 2.3GHz processor mated to 4 gigs of RAM. Featuring a 5.2-inch AMOLED display, the T8 also features an in-built storage space of 128GB and includes a headphone jack as well.

All in all, the USP of the phone is its front camera that features optical image stabilization (OIS) as well as dual pixel phase detection autofocus (PDAF), that we earlier saw in Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom. The company’s Magical AI Beautification app was a big hit last year, especially in China, and has been downloaded over a billion times.

The app claims to work wonders irrespective of whether it is a selfie or a groupfie and works on real time videos as well. It boasts of smoothening of the skin, whitening of teeth and getting rid of dark circles in addition to featuring various ‘stylish’ features.

As of now, the Meitu T8 is available for purchase on the company’s website and is priced at $479 USD (approx. Rs. 32,000). Also, the phone would be available across online retail stores including Tmall, suning.com and jd.com though its global release is still an uncertainty.
