Lenovo updated its fitness tracker portfolio in India with the launch HX03 Cardio and HX03F Spectra. The new fitness bands come with a new design, sharper display, IP68 certification, improved features, and some other added benefits.

We got hold of the Lenovo HX03 Cardio and have been testing it for a while now. It is slightly lower priced than its partner HX03F Spectra, but consists of every possible feature that an entry-grade fitness band should have.

How well does Lenovo HX03 Cardio compete against the like of Mi Band and iVoomi FitMe? Before we begin our Lenovo HX03 Cardio review, let’s list the hardware specifications:

Lenovo HX03 Cardio Design and Display

  • Rubber silicone strap with dual-lock
  • Reasonable display quality

The Lenovo HX03 Cardio is an ergonomically designed fitness band with a core in the middle and detachable rubber-silicone straps on either side. The straps are soft, interchangeable and hold the hardware in its place.

The tracker on the fitness band is made up of hard plastic that can survive inadvertent drops and resist scratches and scuff marks. Its 0.87-inch OLED display offers a clear vision but lacks brightness level to be viewed under direct sunlight. For convenient charging, the Lenovo HX03 Cardio sports a built-in USB Type-A connector and you can plug it directly into a wall charger or your computer.

The connector is hidden under one of the straps and feels durable. Like most other affordable fitness bands, the HX03 Cardio also offers single touch button on top with which you can navigate between Home, time and date screen, step count screen, HR display, Find my phone, and other features.

The Lenovo HX03 Cardio is also lightweight that can be worn day in and day out without compromising on comfort. The clasp is also pretty much secure and strong, not letting it fall off your wrist whatsoever.

Lenovo HX03 Cardio Performance and Features

  • Equipped with Pedometer and heart-rate sensors
  • Running mode and Automatic sleep tracking
  • Nifty features like activity reminder, notifications alert and alarm clock
  • IP68 certified for water and dust resistance

Talking about the Lenovo HX03 Cardio features, it has a lot to offer. The band can count the number of steps you have walked, calories burnt, and distance covered during the day. For in-depth day-to-day analysis, you have to download the Lenovo Healthy app on your smartphone and pair your HX03 Cardio band via Bluetooth. The compatibility is both with Android and iOS phones.

Having said that, the band doesn’t always need pairing as it can store up to a day’s data on its storage. But, to activate other features on the band like notification alerts of calls, SMS, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram or to get “Sedentary Reminder”, you will require the app.

More so, Lenovo HX03 Cardio can also measure your heart rate and sleep activities.

To test the band’s tracking accuracy we pit the Lenovo HD03 Cardio with iVoomi FitMe  (Review) band and Mi Band 2, and the results we got were almost the same, except for the sleep monitoring. The sleep tracking on the Lenovo HX03 Cardio failed to note down the wake-up time during the course of sleep.

How to pair Lenovo HX03 Cardio with your phone:

  • Download and install Lenovo Healthy app on your phone.
  • You will have to register yourself in the app with email ID and password. Quickly finish it and move to the next screen.
  • In the follow-up screen, give the app permission to turn the phone’s Bluetooth on.
  • Now, tap on the hamburger sign on the top-right corner of the screen and select the Binding Band option.
  • Once you do that, the Lenovo Healthy app will start searching for the nearby Lenovo HD03 Cardio fitness band.
  • Select the band and tap on the core’s touch botton to complete the pairing process.

Lenovo HX03 Cardio Battery Backup

  • Convenient charging facility
  • Offers hefty battery backup

The Lenovo HX03 Cardio offers excellent battery backup. Its 80mAh Li-polymer battery can last up to 10-days on a moderate to heavy usage. You can take the fitness band to a short-vacation and when you come back there will still be some juice left.

In comparison, the Lenovo HX03 Cardio’s battery beats most other bands in similar price bracket but falls short of Xiaomi Mi Band HRX edition.

Reasons to buy Lenovo HX03 Cardio

Pros

  • Pedometer and Heart rate sensor accuracy
  • Re-chargeable without cable
  • Battery backup is good
  • Decent build quality

Cons

  • Sleep monitor needs improvement
  • No out of the ordinary features
  • Bugs in the app

The Lenovo HX03 Cardio is a pretty standard wearable that can keep track of your daily regime and notify you of alerts at a one-time cost of Rs. 1,999. It does appear a tad expensive but it will be readily available and perhaps the brand value also factors in. If your requirement from a fitness band are limited, you can consider the Lenovo HX03 Cardio as an option.

As for alternatives, the iVoomi FitMe and Mi Band HRX edition offer weather updates and better battery back up, respectively, for the same or lesser price. But the overall experience is more or less the same.
