HMD Global took the wraps off the new Nokia 6.1 Plus and 5.1 Plus at a media event on August 21. For those who don’t know, the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus are rebranded versions of Nokia X6 and Nokia X5 which were launched as China exclusive earlier this year. The Nokia 6.1 Plus has tough competition ahead as it will go head to head with the likes of Xiaomi Mi A2, Honor Play, Xiaomi Note 5 Pro and Huawei Nova 3i.
Nokia 6.1 Plus Features and Highlights
One aspect where the Nokia 6.1 Plus is different from all its siblings is a notched display. The phone packs a 5.8-inch FHD+ (2280 x 1080) screen with 19:9 aspect ratio. HMD Global givens it a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer on top for screen protection. It has about 81.5 percent screen to body ratio which is right up there with competition.
Once again, Nokia puts a lot of emphasis on built quality and uses a single block of metal to carve out its frame which is slapped with glass on both front and back. HMD Global offers it in blue, black, and silver hues.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus rocks a Snapdragon 636 SoC (system-on-chip) which is joined by Adreno 509 GPU (graphics processing unit). In India, the Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. If you think storage size is not good enough, you get a microSD card slots in both variants and also has rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Of course, it offers face unlock feature too.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a USB-C is which supports Quick Charge 3.0. Nokia claims that bundled Quick Charge 3.0 charger it can refill 50 percent of its 3060mAh battery in just 30 minutes.
Nokia seems to be finally coming to terms with selfie game that is why its camera setup includes a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. Flip to back, you will spot another 16-megapixel sensor paired with a smaller 5-megapixel monochrome sensor. Both rear cameras have there a f/2.0 and f/2.2 aperture respectively. The Nokia 6.1 Plus camera also gets customary AI tricks and portrait mode background blur shots.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus, like all HMD Global made smartphones, is an Android One phone and come running on blot free Android Oreo with latest security patch right out-of-the-box. The company has promised Android P upgrade for the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

Nokia 5.1 Plus Features and Highlights
The Nokia 5.1 Plus, on the other hand, comes with a similar 5.8-inch display but it has only HD+ resolution. as for innards, the Nokia 5.1 Plus features a Mediatek Helio P60 which features big.little architecture. Like 6.1 Plus, the 5.1 also gets a dual setup at the back which also gets AI features. The Nokia 5.1 Plus has a 13MP+5MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera.
It also gets Nokia’s Bothie feature and runs on Android Oreo 8.1.0 and will be upgraded to Android P later this year.
Nokia 5.1, 6.1 Plus Price In India, Availability
As Flipkart has been teasing, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus are exclusive to Walmart owned Indian e-tailer. The Nokia 6.1 Plus India price starts from Rs 15,999, whereas the Nokia 5.1 Plus will be close to Euro 199.
Both phones will also be available on Nokia’s own website.
