Amazon brought in the new version of Kindle Oasis (10th gen) a bit early this year, and it primarily adds the ability to change color temperature and switch to more warmer whites that are even less harsh on eyes.

Will the warm lighting make much of a difference?

Displays on our phones are increasingly getting bigger, and the one main reason why anyone would invest in a Kindle for e-reading is that the e-ink screen on such ebook readers isn’t backlit and thus significantly more comfortable for long hours of reading. Which is precisely why the addition of adjustable warm lights cannot be discounted as a minor change.

This should make the third Kindle Oasis iteration better for night time reading and also allows users to adjust the look closer to what they perceive as real paper color. There is also an option to schedule warm tones at a specific time every day.

The Oasis isn’t the first to include warmer tones, though. Kobo’s ebook readers already offer this feature.

Apart from warmer tones that push up LED count from 12 to 25 this year, the new Oasis includes “new e-ink display technology for faster page turns”. Other than that, it’s similar to the 9th generation Kindle Oasis (Review). Amazon hasn’t changed the micro USB port to Type-C either.

Other notable Oasis features include 7-inch e-ink display with 300ppi sharpness, waterproofing, and Audible integration (not in India).

Kindle Oasis 10th Gen (2019) Price in India and Availability

The price remains the same as the last generation Kindle Oasis (2017) – Rs. 21,999 for the base 8GB storage variant (Wi-Fi), and Rs. 28,999 for the 32GB storage model (Wi-Fi, 4G). Both models are listed in graphite color only.

There’s a 32GB, Wi-Fi model in the middle that costs 24,999 and comes in Champaign Gold color.

Amazon is offering one free ebook worth up to Rs. 500 to customers who pre-order. The new Kindle Oasis 10th generation starts shipping on July 24.
