iVoomi i2 Lite was recently announced in India by the Chinese OEM, and it is nothing but a new variant of its earlier launched iVoomi i2 (Review) phone. The only notable difference you will notice on the iVoomi i2 Lite is on its specs sheet, which reflects the phone’s configuration as 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.

We got the chance to get close to iVoomi i2 Lite, which also sports 18:9 aspect ratio display and dual cameras, and here’s what we think of the affordable pocket-friendly phone.

iVoomi i2 Lite: What’s inside the box?

  • iVoomi i2 handset

  • User manual and other paperwork

iVoomi i2 Lite Design and Display

The iVoomi i2 Lite comes clad in a polycarbonate build with a glossy finish and curved edges. Similar to its elder sibling, the handset has a removable back panel to get access of hybrid-Dual SIM card slots. A good solid case cover is needed for the longevity of the phone.

The fascia of the iVoomi i2 Lite flaunts an 18:9 display that measures 5.45-inches and has HD+ (720×1440 pixels) resolution. Although the panel is IPS LCD, the phone lacks in brightness. The iVoomi i2 Lite throws punchy colors in areas with low light, though.

iVoomi i2 Lite Performance, Software, and Battery

Moving on to the performance department, the iVOOMi i2 equips 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK6739 processor, which is backed by 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. The storage is further expandable up to 128GB, but for that, you got to get rid of your second SIM card. Our initial experience with i2 Lite was smooth and stutter-free; however, the same may not happen when you push the handset limits.

Out-of-the-box the iVoomi i2 runs on a customised Android 8.1 Oreo OS. The brand’s custom skin ropes in few extra-features like Emergency Rescue (SOS), gestures support and intelligent battery saving modes. A beefy 4,000mAh battery with 2A fast charging meets the power demands of the user and keeps the screen on for close to a day.

The fingerprint sensor is again missing from iVoomi i2 Lite, which has been replaced by Face Unlock. The facial recognition is fast and reliable, but not secure.

iVoomi i2 Lite Camera

For shutterbugs, the iVOOMi i2 Lite employs the same optics – 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel sensors on the rear and 8-megapixel sensor on the front – as the ‘i2’. The camera app offers various modes like Face Beauty, Blur, and Pro, among others.

The real-life results continue to disappoint as pictures clicked were grainy and involved a lot of noise in less-than-ideal lighting. Also, the bokeh shot with i2 lite rear camera looked more artificial than natural. On the bright side, there is LED flash on both ends.

iVoomi i2 Lite Verdict: You should not buy it!

The iVoomi i2 Lite India price is set at Rs 6,499, and it is available for purchase exclusively on Flipkart.

For its price, the iVoomi i2 Lite offers a beautiful design, bezel-less display, and massive battery backup. However, demoting its RAM and storage, and giving no dedicated microSD card slot makes it tough to recommend to entry-level smartphone users.

Pros

  • Elegant Design
  • Dual rear cameras with Bokeh mode
  • Dual VoLTE on both SIM slots

Cons

  • Lag in performance
  • Missing fingerprint sensor
  • Hybrid SIM slots
