Last year, the iQOO Z series was super popular during the festive sale season. With that in mind, iQOO is getting ready to drop two new products in its Z9 Series: the iQOO Z9s Pro and iQOO Z9s. Both these phones will hit the market on August 21 in India. The Z Series phones are known for their performance, but they’ve got some tough competition in the camera department.

The iQOO Z9s Pro has upped its camera game, considering the demands of college students and young professionals who want a performance-centric phone that also features a capable camera setup. It features a 50MP primary camera with a Sony IMX882 sensor, complete with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Super Night Mode. The 8MP ultra-wide lens adds versatility to your shots. Plus, AI Erase and AI Photo Enhance features give your photos a pro-level finish.

Recently, we got the chance to try out both smartphones and take some photos and videos with the iQOO Z9s Pro. In this post, we’ll show you a sneak peek of the camera samples we took using the iQOO Z9s Pro. But before we jump into the images, here’s a quick overview of some details related to the phone

iQOO Z9s specs

The iQOO Z9s Pro seems to have borrowed some design elements from the iQOO 12. It rocks a 3D curved AMOLED display and a slim 7.49mm body, even though it’s got a huge 5500mAh battery packed in there. Speaking of the display, iQOO claims that the Z9s Pro offers local peak brightness levels of 4500 nits and 1800 nits, respectively.

When it comes to power, the iQOO Z9s Pro 5G runs on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, while the Z9s 5G features a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset. According to iQOO, the Pro phone can achieve an impressive score of 8L+ on AnTuTu, and the non-pro phone can hit a score of 7L+ on AnTuTu. We haven’t put these claims to the test, so we can’t confirm their performance. But what we have done is snapped a bunch of photos with the phone, and let me share those with you.

iQOO Z9s Pro Camera Daylight Performance Sneak-Peak

Let’s dive into the daylight performance of the iQOO Z9s Pro camera, starting with the 8MP ultrawide and then moving to the 50MP primary shooter, which outputs 12.6MP photos by default.

The primary 50MP sensor delivers bright, detailed images in daylight. The colors are well-balanced, avoiding the typical pitfalls of oversaturation. The ultrawide lens also impresses, capturing expansive scenes with minimal edge distortion.

I snapped these photos from a moving bus while exploring Baku, Azerbaijan. Despite the windy conditions and moving clouds, the shots suggest a fast shutter speed and commendable dynamic range.

Here are a few more camera shots taken in broad daylight:

iQOO Z9s Pro Portrait Camera Mode

In portrait mode, the iQOO Z9s Pro excels with precise edge detection and a pleasing bokeh effect.

During a windy day, the camera managed to adapt quickly to changing lighting conditions, though occasionally, skin tones could be slightly off—a fixable issue with software updates.

Once again iQOO Z9s Pro managed to map out edges perfectly to create an appealing bokeh around the subject. The images look sharp with have a good amount of detail.

iQOO Z9s Pro Super Night Mode

The iQOO Z9s performs well in low-light conditions as well. The camera handles the dynamic range in the image very well, especially when there are bright light sources around.

Photos taken in extreme low-light conditions lose out on some details while maintaining excellent dynamic range with any noticeable noise.

Once again, in extremely poor lighting conditions camera did a commendable job of keeping noise at bay but we noticed a certain halo effect around the subject’s face which is something that requires some tweaking.

I took these two portrait shots at night with some artificial light coming from a shop’s window on the street. The images look colorful, without any noise, and with a good amount of detail. The bokeh in the 2x shot looks really prominent with clean edges, and there’s no clipping on any part of the body or the backpack.

AI Eraser

The iQOO Z9s Pro’s AI eraser tool delivered impressive results. We successfully removed unwanted elements, like background people and a foreground figure, with ease. The smart lasso tool accurately selected objects, ensuring a clean and distraction-free image.

Bottomline

This was a sneak peek at the iQOO Z9s Pro’s camera capabilities. It’s clear that iQOO has put in some extra effort on their Z series camera. To find out more about the camera performance, you’ll have to wait until August 22, when iQOO will launch the Z9s series in India. During the sneak peek session, iQOO claims that the iQOO Z9s Pro will be the slimmest curved phone in the Rs 25,000 segment at the time of its launch.
