Chinese smartphone manufacturer iQOO is gearing up to launch the iQOO Z8 globally. The company launched the phone in its native market a few weeks ago without Google Play services. However, a new listing on Google Play Console hints that the company is working on a global smartphone version.

iQOO Z8 Expected Specifications

Per the Google Play Console’s listing, the iQoo Z8 carries the model number “PD2314.” Although the starting characters of the model number, i.e., “PD,” refer to an iQOO smartphone manufactured for the Chinese market, the country doesn’t allow Google Play Services, such as the Play Store, or other apps to run on phones. Further, there have been several models that initially came out in China. Therefore, it makes sense that the company is testing the phone for other markets.

The listing also suggests that the iQOO Z8 has a 1080 x 2399 pixels screen with a resolution of 480 pixels per inch and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. Under the hood, the smartphone features a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chip with one 3.1GHz core, three 3.0GHz cores, and four 2.0GHz cores. Although the listed device has 12GB of RAM, the Chinese variants also have 8GB of RAM, along with multiple storage options such as 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.

Regarding optics, the smartphone could have a 64MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, users should get a 16MP selfie shooter. To power through a day of usage, the phone has a 5,000 mAh battery that supports up to 120W fast wired charging. However, the Indian variant might support a different charging speed altogether. Other features of the phone could include support for 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a USB-C port.

For those catching up, Google Play Console allows manufacturers to test apps and compatibility before releasing smartphones or other devices, like tables, in the market. Further, companies usually register for Google Play Console after finishing the hardware development process, nearing its launch. Hence, the iQOO Z8 could get a global version sooner than expected. In India, the iQOO Z8 could cost about Rs. 21,000.
