The Chinese smartphone manufacturer iQoo is gearing up to reveal its new Android flagship, the iQoo 12 series. It will come with two smartphones, the iQoo 12 and the iQoo 12 Pro. While both the phones should run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, there will be a few key differences that users should know about. Here’s a detailed comparison between the leaked specifications of the iQoo 12 and the iQoo 12 Pro.

iQoo 12 Vs. iQoo 12 Pro: Display

Per Indian tipster Abhishek Yadav, the vanilla iQoo 12 should come with a 6.78-inch 1.5K BOE OLED screen that should support up to 144Hz refresh rate and a 3,000 nits peak brightness. It could also feature 2160Hz PWM dimming. On the other hand, the iQoo 12 Pro will feature a 6.78-inch 2K Samsung E7 AMOLED display with a similar refresh rate but lesser peak brightness (2,700 nits) and PWM dimming (1,440Hz). Another striking difference between the two phones should be the flat display edges on the iQoo 12 and the curved edges on the iQoo 12 Pro.

iQoo 12 Vs. iQoo 12 Pro: Performance

Under the hood, both flagships will run on Qualcomm’s latest and greatest chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The capable chipset should be paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Most recently, a global version of the iQoo 12 series appeared on the popular benchmarking platform Geekbench, where it scored 2,188/6,383 points in the single-/multi-core performance test. The listing cited the model number I2220.

Further, it also hinted that the variant had 12GB of RAM. Another report suggests that at least one model could offer up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Since both phones ship with the same processor, there’s a good chance that the company will reserve the higher RAM and storage variant for the Pro model.

Both Phones Should Offer The Same Camera Setup

Interestingly, both phones carry a similar camera setup, including a 50MP OV50H primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide sensor, and a 64MP PV64B 3x telephoto sensor. The leaked smartphone images also show that it will offer up to 100x hybrid zoom, which we’ve also seen in a leaked camera sample. On the front, users will get a 16MP selfie shooter on both models.

When it comes to the battery, the iQoo 12 should come with a 5,000 mAh battery, whereas the iQoo 12 Pro should offer a slightly larger 5,100 mAh battery. Both phones will provide 120W fast wired charging. Last but not least, the regular iQoo 12 carries an IP64 rating, whereas the iQoo 12 Pro has an IP68 water and dust resistance certification.

iQoo 12 Vs. iQoo 12 Pro: Common Features

Other common features include dual stereo speakers, IR blaster, NFC, Bluetooth v5.4, Wi-Fi 7, an in-display fingerprint scanner (ultra-sonic scanner on the iQoo 12 Pro), and a large X-axis linear motor for haptics. Out of the box, both phones will run on iQoo skin based on Android 14.

Moreover, there isn’t much difference between the iQoo 12 and iQoo 12 Pro. While the non-Pro model has a brighter screen, both phones should offer similar performance and camera results. Ultimately, it should come down to the memory and storage variants that better differentiate the phones.

iQoo 12 Vs. iQoo 12 Pro: Release Date

iQoo will reveal the iQoo 12 series in India on December 12, 2023, about a month and five days after the phone comes out in its native country.
