Even though Apple’s iPhone 14 lineup is still months away from us, leaks and rumors about these phones have started appearing. Just take a recent report which claims the iPhone 14 Pro would have a pill-shaped cutout for its selfie camera. And the accompanying sensors and modules for Face ID would be placed under the screen.

So, we might finally bid adieu to the broad notch that has been part of iPhones since the X-series.

Rumors about this development have been corroborated by multiple sources. Some have argued this choice by the iPhone maker wouldn’t impact the experience anyway. We also think that IR projectors and such stuff should be able to work fine through a glass panel.

This would make the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max the first Apple phones to feature an under-display Face ID.

Now, note just the Pro models are expected to support this change. Meanwhile, the regular iPhone 14 or any other non-pro iPhones could switch to a Touch ID system too as Face ID doesn’t bode well with masks. However, nothing can’t be said with full confidence until we have our hands or eyes on stronger evidence. This also goes for other alleged iPhone 14 upgrades like an A16 Bionic chipset or a USB-C port.

Anyways, in related news, we have some details about the iPhone SE 3. It is expected to continue in the same design language as its predecessor. That means an iPhone 8-ish body with a thick bezel display, a solo rear camera, and Touch ID. But, there would be some upgrades inside such as an A15 Bionic chipset, 5G support, better battery life, improved camera performance, etc.

And if you had come across rumors of a design revamp in the SE lineup, know that recent estimates suggest that redesign could be slated for 2024. The iPhone SE 3 is by the by expected in early 2022 itself and the iPhone 14 series would see the daylight in the latter part of this year.
