Update: The Infocus Epic 1 is now official for 12,999 INR. It will retain on Amazon.in starting October 25, 2016. For more details, you can proceed to our Infocus Epic 1 Hands On Review.

After laying low for a while, US-based smartphone manufacturer Infocus is all set to launch its deca-core SoC powered smartphone, Epic 1, in India.

That Infocus Epic 1 is still in preliminary teaser thrusting stage, so we don’t know much about the hardware being used. However, the phrase “it’s a 10” with integrated circuit markings emblazoned on the numeric part all but confirms the presence of a deca-core chip, most likely the Helio X20/25.

This won’t be the first deca-core phone coming to India, as the exorbitantly priced Zopo Speed 8 reserves that honor. Let’s briefly recap the Helio X20 which takes the center stage here.

The 20nm based chipset has 10 ARM cores arranged in three clusters (For otherwise, those cores would mercilessly devour battery), brought together by MediaTek Coherent System Interconnect, a custom interconnect IP. The performance cluster includes 2 x Cortex A72 cores ticking at 2.5GHz. The other two power clusters have 4 x Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2GHz and 1.4GHz respectively.

Other notable tidbits include support for LPDDR3 RAM interface, Cat 10 LTE, integrated 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Mali T880 MP4 GPU, dual ISP and 4K recording support. The chipset is about 40 percent more powerful and power efficient than its predecessor, the Helio X10 (Claims MediaTek).

Infocus might very well use the Helio X25 instead, which is slightly upgraded Helio X20 variant with slightly higher clocked GPU and CPU cores.

Apart from the mid-range chipset being used, Infocus Epic 1 is expected to include a Full HD display, a big selfie camera sensor, a slim metal casing, and a 3000mAh battery. Since teasers have already started pouring in, launch day shouldn’t be far off. We will share more info as soon as the phone goes official.
