Infinix Hot S3X Design and Built

Infinix Hot S3X features a 6.2-inch HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio screen. The display looks vibrant and reproduces rich colors (a tad oversaturated). The phone is enclosed in a neat looking fluidic design body which has a mirror glass finish on the back. Honestly, it does look attractive and premium.

The phone also fits well in our hands and is easy to operate. The mirror finish does attract a lot of fingerprints and looks smudgy after minimal usage, but the bundled protective case should help resolve this peeve point (besides evening out the camera hump).

The fingerprint sensor is placed on the back and can be easily reached. The unlocking speed of the sensor though is slower than the set standard. The Hot S3x has face unlock as well which takes a good couple of seconds to unlock the mobile.

Infinix Hot S3X Performance

It is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Octa-core mobile platform with Adreno 505 Graphics. The phone comes with a 3GB RAM and internal storage of 32GB. It even has a dedicated slot that can be used to add up to 128GB of secondary storage.

The phone works decently well with a few jitters here and there. It can even run heavy games like PUBG, but you’ll need to tolerate sporadic frame drops. The overall performance and RAM management are satisfactory.

Infinix Hot S3X Camera

Coming to the camera performance, Infinix houses a dual camera on the rear consisting of 13MP, f/2.0 aperture primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor.

The camera performance is decent in proper lighting, but understandably deteriorates indoors. As for dual-sensor fired portrait mode, it takes a notable amount of time to capture a picture.  The phone does have an option to change the depth and focal point post capturing. At the end of the day, the portrait mode feels gimmicky.

On the front, the phone features a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. This selfie camera fails to impress with its mediocre shots. The edge detection looks unnatural and the colors are not reproduced properly. But it would be harsh to expect a10k phone perform any better.

Infinix Hot S3X Software

Infinix S3X runs on Android Oreo 8.1 based XOS 3.3. The custom skin is easy to use but the experience isn’t very refined or polished. The shelf present on the left side of the home screen pushes news constantly from the Internet and there is no option to disable it. The phone has several pre-installed apps but most of these can be uninstalled. The gesture navigation is smooth and works fine almost everytime.

Infinix Hot S3X Battery

The Infinix S3X houses a 4000 mAh battery. As is true with almost all other phones in under 10K price segment, the phone does not support fast charging and takes a significant amount of time to recharge.

Infinix Hot S3X: Final Impression

The Infinix Hot S3X looks and performs better than their sister company’s smartphone Tecno Camon i2X. However, the success of this device depends majorly on how it fares in the long run. Infinix has tried to justify their price tag by covering all the basics and throwing in a few contemporary trends (Notch, dual cameras).

The phone does look picturesque but Infinix has to up their game on the performance and camera front.

Pros

  • Design
  • Dedicated card slot
  • Display
  • Battery backup

Cons

  • No dual VoLTE support
  • Mediocre performance
  • Software
