India’s electric car market set to be shaken by Maruti Suzuki’s 2022 WagonR EV

0

Maruti Suzuki is working on an electric vehicle for quite a few years now. As we can see from the design of the vehicle, it is likely to be based on the WagonR. It is unknown when the WagonR EV will launch, but we have some fresh spy shots of the vehicle that reveal its true nature since it is no longer camouflaged.

The WagonR EV was spotted on Gurgaon’s roads ahead of the expected 2022 launch.
Because this is the first time the car has been spotted on a public road without camouflage, we believe that the car is well into its testing phase currently.

The WagonR retains the tallboy design that we’ve seen this year after year. It gives the occupants ample headroom. Above the turn indicators are the turn signals, and the main headlamp unit is in the bumper. It is equipped with a projector set up and fog lamps. An internal combustion engine requires no air, so there is no visible grille. In the fog lamps, it appears that there is a dam of air that cools the electric motor.

The side profile of the WagonR is identical. The alloy wheels are the same as those on the Ignis. The tyre sizes should also be the same as Ignis, and the alloys could measure 15 inches in diameter. The wheel arches are also quite prominent.

At the rear, we can see vertical tail lamps that are now blacked out. A rear wiper has a washer and a high-mounted stop lamp. On Stingray WagonR, a chrome strip above the number plate was covered since we expected it to bear the vehicle’s name. A horizontal black stripe is added to the rear bumper and vertical reflector strips are added to the front bumper.

A WagonR-style interior will also be available. In terms of the infotainment system, it will come with the same three-spoke steering wheel. A cubby space will be available for storing wallets and mobile phones, as well as automatic climate control. A gear lever controls the system. An analog instrument cluster with a small display should display the battery level and range.

Maruti focusing on alternative fuels

CNG and mild-hybrid technologies are already a priority for the largest automobile manufacturer. The plan to bring back the 1.5-liter diesel engine has been shelved. Several of Suzuki’s vehicles are equipped with SHVS hybrid technology, and the firm already offers CNG vehicles. They’ll soon get CNG powertrains in the Swift, Vitara Brezza, and Dzire, and they’ll get mild hybrids in their upcoming models. Tata Motors has already demonstrated that electric vehicles are feasible in India, so their new focus may be electric vehicles. Our country’s best-selling electric vehicle is Nexon EV, and the Tigor EV, the most affordable one, was launched recently.
